[The audio turns on to the sound of silence for the first few seconds before Lucy asks her question.]

If you could have one wish, what would you wish for? Not like...money or anything. Not for powers, but what would you really wish for?

[Because it's her birthday, and she wasn't really in the mood to celebrate. Of course, she'll wish for her family to be okay, for them to remember and come here so they could meet Victor. But...would that be a waste of a wish? Sure, wishes were powerful, but she was in another world, and she didn't think they would be strong enough to pull her family from one realm to the next...

Or, maybe she's just over thinking things. Maybe she just wants to talk and not think about her birthday.]

Toothless? Is that your dragon's name? Does it really not have any teeth? What about dentures? [..This conversation is turning out to be much more entertaining than she would've thought.] Yeah! There's a story about a flying carpet, I could see if I can find the book for you.

[And bringing it back to reality. There's a slow nod of her head.]

...It is...but I have Victor, and he's a father to me right now. He's not replacing my dad, but he'she's very special to me. I just miss everyone else.

He has teeth, they're just retractable, so sometimes it looks like he doesn't. [He laughs a little.] Yeah? I think I would like to read it. It sounds interesting.

[His voice softens just a little.] You know, I miss my dad too. This is the farthest I've been away from home. It's normal to miss your family, and still appreciate the people you have here. [He might be thinking a little bit about Loki here, who has offered him support when he needed it.]

Oh, so he's just toothless some of the time. [Which makes for a great name.] I could find the book for you, I'm sure it's in the library or in a book store.

[There's a pause from Lucy, taking in the Viking's words and thankful there's someone who understands.]

I didn't think it was..it's one of the reasons why I didn't say it's my birthday. It doesn't feel right to celebrate it without them..even though I have Papa.

Maybe you could put together a good reading list for me. I'd love to learn more about other worlds' stories. [It's true enough, he does like to read, and his new place could use some books for the bookshelves.]

I just had my birthday here, too, my first without my dad and Gobber. It's strange to celebrate it without the people who have always been there, but... I think they would want you to have a good birthday regardless.

I could, but...I'd still have to make corrections on it. I'll write up the differences in a different notebook.

[Oh...he gets it then. Being alone on one's birthday and not having others around. She didn't think anyone else would.]

I know...they'd want me too, but it's hard. Even if I was in my own time, it would still be different, but at least they'd be there.

[Maybe they should go onto a different subject...or just shift the conversation away from her.]

What kinds of differences are there? You seem to be an authority on this kind of thing. [Not that he's not used to stories being told differently. On Berk, any story will get new twists and turns depending on who tells it.]

Yeah, it is hard. I'm sure you've got people here that want to celebrate with you, though, who wouldn't be able to if you were home. It's not so bad when you think of it like that.

Mm? It was the last day of February. I didn't do much for it.

Oh... [She can't help but start to smile a little.] There are plenty of differences. Like differences in terms of how events played out and how people were really like.

I have people...and I love them a lot, it's just..not the same with your mom and dad, you know?

So yours was a while ago....did you have cake at least?

Maybe in return I can tell you some dragon-rider stories one of these days. We've had some pretty crazy adventures. [It seems like the kind of thing she might like, and vikings love telling stories too.

His smile softens.] Yeah, I know. But think about how much better it will be when you see them again.

[Then, he makes an exaggerated face.] I'm not for cake so much, I think. We don't even have sugar where I come from.

Yeah! I would love to hear some dragon stories. There aren't too many where I'm from--well, ones that don't involve them being evil that is.

[There's a soft hum of agreement...he has a point, but whether or not Henry will believe that she's his kid is a whole other story.

Wait. He's not much for cake?! How. Why.]

....You... [She cannot comprehend this for a few more seconds.] You just haven't found the right cake--there's tons of different flavors and I'm sure we can find you one that you'll like--there's even cheesecake!

Dragons aren't evil, at least not where I come from. They're just like anyone else, they can be aggressive if you threaten them, but if you earn their trust, they can be your best friend. [From somewhere in the background is an answering purr that sounds like agreement, from Toothless.]

It's true I've only tried the one kind, but- Cheesecake? What... Wouldn't that be weird?
