[ There's questions that have been burning in his mind for a while. This place has confirmed a lot of his theories, yes, but the fact of the matter is he still has a million more questions to ask and he's finally narrowed it down to a few. When he greets the camera it's with the ease of someone who has done far too many video conference calls, and he smiles brightly, his voice it's usual friendly tone. ]
Before I get into things, I should probably say hello, so: my name is Alex Murry, and back home I'm a theoretical physicist. Now--can I have a headcount as to who in their universe has some sort of faster than light travel? Also, how many people here are from a place that's not Earth?
Oh-- [ a brisk snap of his fingers ] --Is there anybody here who has the ability to teleport? If you're willing to talk about anything I've mentioned or things similar to it, I'd love to hear about it. [ Judging from how eager he is, it's genuine. ]

It's kind of a weird feeling. Even if Jim doesn't have a beard, and his hair's shorter and (in his very modest and unbiased opinion) better taken care of. He almost considers going audio but he figures he may as well just get that initial shock out of the way.
Plus the questions do catch his attention, so. ]
We have faster-than-light travel. We measure it in warp factors— anything warp one and higher is faster than light. And I am from Earth, but plenty of people where I come from aren't. I was actually born in deep space.
As for teleporting, I'm not naturally capable of it, though we do have transporters in my universe.
[ And now he'll shut up for a bit and let Alex choose which piece of information he wants to focus on first. ]

Or would be, had he not been staring at a slightly neater, more clean shaven version of himself. Alex leans back from how he's sitting on his chair, saying nothing for a moment, and he's heard the other's words, yes, but--well. ]
Wow.
[ Yeah, he needs a few more seconds. ]

Right, that too. Yeah. [ He smiles and waves at the camera. ] Hi? Captain James T. Kirk. This is one of the weird things that happens around here sometimes.

Captain James T Kirk, it is amazing to meet you. It's weird, but it makes sense, doesn't it? If they're pulling from different worlds, there's going to be a chance cells and molecules and time and space arrange in similar fashions.
How often does this sort of thing happen?
[ 'And what are you a captain of' is the other question, but he'll get to that. Probably. If he remembers after grilling the other. ]

Likewise. [ Okay, that's cute. A little more excitable than he expected. But then, theoretical physicist. This is probably the sort of stuff he loves. ]
Sometimes. Same people with different faces, different people with the same face. This is the second time someone showed up here looking exactly like me, for instance.
