[ There's questions that have been burning in his mind for a while. This place has confirmed a lot of his theories, yes, but the fact of the matter is he still has a million more questions to ask and he's finally narrowed it down to a few. When he greets the camera it's with the ease of someone who has done far too many video conference calls, and he smiles brightly, his voice it's usual friendly tone. ]
Before I get into things, I should probably say hello, so: my name is Alex Murry, and back home I'm a theoretical physicist. Now--can I have a headcount as to who in their universe has some sort of faster than light travel? Also, how many people here are from a place that's not Earth?
Oh-- [ a brisk snap of his fingers ] --Is there anybody here who has the ability to teleport? If you're willing to talk about anything I've mentioned or things similar to it, I'd love to hear about it. [ Judging from how eager he is, it's genuine. ]

I don't suppose you'd know the equation for it, would you?

The calculations depend on the ship, the speed, and point of origin in relation to the nearest hyperspace route. There is no set equation. Most starships employ a droid or use mathematical programs, and the ship must be equipped with a hyperdrive to reach lightspeed in the first place.
[a little muffled and distorted from somewhere in the background comes a cackle of laughter, followed by a jyn's voice muttering: "you're such a nerd." all of which cassian completely Ignores.]

It's kind of hard. ]
Sounds pretty normal for you - but what about dimensions? Not time and space, but outside of time and space.
[ As for the laughter? He's more than used to that. Mostly from coworkers, so he doesn't pay it too much attention. ]

It's very normal. Much like there are many from Earth here, there are just as many for whom space travel is not common. [and that's just weird.]
Hyperspace is essentially similar to another dimension. It exists outside and alongside realspace. Without precise calculations or following specific routes, you can still strike large objects in realspace, but the routes allow faster travel between planets and star systems.
