[ 5 ] video; un: @altin

[ He sounds like he's... been thinking, and he has been. There's something on his mind. A few things on his mind, actually. But there's a particular thought that sticks out. He lifts up his hand, and rests his chin in his palm. He tries not to fidget with the ring on his finger, so he just focuses hard on the camera. ]

Curious question. I've been here a year, and I realize, after all this time, that I am missing some people I never thought I would miss. In most ways, this place feels like home, but it's the absence of them that makes it not.

[ He's talking a lot for him, and he realizes it. So he gets suddenly very quiet for a few moments, before speaking again. ]

Still, I wouldn't trade it - being here. I'm genuinely happy. I want to make the most of my time here, still. Continue learning while I'm here. Getting good at what I was never good at.

[ He fidgets with his ring, and sits upright. ]

So I guess I want to know... What unexpected things have come to you while you're here?

[ A year. Rose has already been here a couple months and it feels like- It feels like way too damn long, honestly. ]

So far? Getting a puppy. Working in a field I always wanted to back home, too. Pretty sweet that they hooked me up with a job.

What field is that?

[ He thinks it's nice to get to do what you want while here. ]

Music! I'm a DJ. DJ Thornz. If you haven't heard of me yet, that's totally cool. I'm still making a name for myself on this moon.

[ There's the slightest spark of recognition. ]

I'm a DJ myself, so I stay familiar with at least the names of others here. I just go by Altin. I work at Element Nightclub. And run entertainment at The Castle, Club Angel, Etcetera, and Resilience.

[ He never really thought about how much it sounds like...but it's a lot. ]

Woah, dude, you're a big shot. I don't even have a home club to call my own yet, but... Maybe someday.

[ah, this post speaks to Osomatsu! he sure misses home, but he also really likes being in Riverview. he wishes all of his family could be here, to see the progress he's made]

Whoo boy. There's quite a few things that have happened while I've been here. Like, I got a job, an' I'm livin' on my own. I sure wasn't doin' either of those things back at home. [he rubs the back of his neck, thinking] There's been other stuff, too, like the unexpected friends I've made.

[ It's a tricky thing, really. Otabek's missing people that he wasn't even close with. It's just weird to him. ]

Weren't you? [ Not working or living on your own is a strange concept to him, but he's been working his entire life. Otabek's aware it's not necessarily normal... and yet. ]

Yeah. There's been some good friends I've made here, too.

[he rubs the back of his neck, a little embarrassed]

Back at home, I was livin' with my parents, and my brothers. None of us had jobs. It was actually kind of sad.

[ He's not one to judge. For him, at his age, it would have been far more typical for someone to be at home living with his parents and sibling. ]

I don't think it's sad. Where I'm from a lot of people stay home until they're married.

Really? Where are you from?

Kazakhstan. We're family oriented, often times.

[ He likes to travel and be on his own..so he's a bit of a black sheep. ]

I prefer to live alone, though. Well, I used to. I live with my fiance now.

Yep. It was a nice surprise attached to this place.

Would you say that's something unexpected that came to you while you were here?

[ He feels... comfortable saying this. ]

Hm, it is. I've always admired him, though. So I can't say it wasn't a hope before I got here.

I'm glad the quarantine could make it happen for you, buddy! I'm really happy to be here, too. I think it's, like... it helped a lot of people get fresh starts, yanno?

I think so, for some it has allowed them to meet people they never would have.

Exactly! So the people who get here and are like, "Oh, I wanna go home!" it's like... I dunno. They should give it a chance! We were all brought here for a reason.

I mean - if we remembered things when we left, I wouldn't be opposed to going home with my fiance.

But... I can see why others wouldn't want to.

I've been thinking about it a lot, and if we go back to the same time, I wonder if we'd remember this place.

I had a friend who went back for a few weeks, and then came back here. He remembered everything just fine.

Did he? I wonder if it's the same for everyone.

[ He doesn't trust it. ]

[wow... what would happen if he went home? would he forget about his job, about Gintoki and Lyle and the other friends he made here?]

...Shit, now I'm nervous.

I guess...we won't know until or if we go back.

[ It's hard not to overthink. ]

...I'm gonna make sure I remember, if I go back. Even if I gotta take some type of pill, or something.

[ He doesn't want to forget, either. ]

People from home. Important people. That I, uh, never thought I'd...see again. Or didn't know about.

They're here? That's lucky. A lot of people don't have that luck.

[She nods, a little solemn. Cass can't imagine being stuck here without Stephanie. Or Tim and the rest of her idiot brothers.]

Yeah. Definitely lucky. My best friend got here when I did. Some of my brothers... were here already. It's made things easier. Still have... people I miss, though.

[Cass noticed one thing in particular though, the urge to mess with the ring he was wearing that he pushed past.]

The ring. Someone here? Or from home? If, uh, it's okay to ask.

[From the context she's guessing it's someone who isn't around now, regardless.]

[ He lifts up his hand. ]

My fiance? From home - but he's here. This was one of my unexpected things from being here. We're the only people here from our home world.

[ After all, it never could have happened at home like this. ]

Still getting used to it.

[Oh that's much better than she'd first assumed. She brightens up a little.]

You weren't together there?

We had just met at home. More or less, at least.

[ Yuri hadn't remembered him when they had met while young, and he was long used to that. ]

This place gives opportunities that people may not have gotten otherwise.

[ He's glad for it. ]

I'm pretty lucky. I wish there was more people from home, though.
