Why Should the Devil have all the Good Music?
(Joint post from Jace Wayland Herondale, Lightwood, Whatever and Alec Lightwood-Bane.)
[When the broadcast begins, the video pans across the interior of the LUX nightclub. The space is lit enough to show the details of the speakeasy inspired decor but dim enough to give the impression of what the club will be like when it's open.
Eventually the feed stops on a blond playing Fur Elise at a grand piano. Alec sets his phone down, bracing it so that it has a clear view and won't move. He sits down beside Jace. He waits a few beats before accompanying his parabatai. The two of them begin playing a ragtime version of the song, each player pausing at certain points and the other easily picking up the melody. When they're finished, Alec turns toward the camera.]
A few months ago, Magnus and I opened up the LUX building for renters. We've been working on opening the nightclub on the main and basement floors, and we almost have everything ready. We're planning to make the club like the apartments, welcoming to those who have felt that they're different. This will be a safe place to enjoy themselves. Mostly I was thinking that this would be a place for beings who are supernatural but it'll be open to anyone who is willing to follow the rules and not cause trouble.
LUX is going to be a music club, but right now, I have only two performers. If you're interested in playing at the club, please contact either Jace or me and we can discuss setting up an audition.
[As Alec mentions the Lux being a safe place, Jace begins playing C Jam Blues. He’s definitely showing off and enjoying the jazz piece immensely. Right up until he hears his name and then he stops and leans in closer to Alec, eyes on the phone.]
Bring your own sheet music. Diversity is important. If you don’t have any musical talent don’t call me. Unless you’re hot and looking for date. Or you have some other talent. Like bartending or waiting tables.
[Scowling at Jace, Alec elbows his parabatai in the ribs.] You’re not the only one who’ll be holding auditions. I’m the owner, remember?
[Jace smiled and rubbed at his ribs for a moment before beginning a new piece. Moonlight Sonata.] You’re the boss. I just toss drinks and rule breakers.
And play the piano. [Shaking his head, he looks more amused than annoyed by Jace’s comments.] If anyone wants to audition or interview, let us know.
(ooc: If you prefer either Jace or Alec to answer, note which one you want to answer in the subject line or in the tag.)

My boyfriend is really, really talented- he DJ's three clubs in town right now. I don't know that he would have time, per se, to do live shows for your club, but I'm sure he could hook you up with some equipment discounts and like, mixes for the interim when you don't have live stuff, you know?
[ Yuri shifts, resting the hand not holding his phone on his knee, and his chin on his hand. ]
And as for me- I've never bar-tendered before. [ Or had a job at all that wasn't ice skating, really. ] But how hard can waiting tables be? [ At this, he rolls his eyes. ]
no subject
We'd appreciate that. If he has time, I'd like to talk to him. We have some equipment but I inherited it from the previous owner. [He assumed Lucifer had believed in only the best but it wouldn't hurt to have someone else look at him and offer advice.]
It isn't, but you have to be ready for unusual customers. Are you going to freak out if you have to serve a glass of blood to someone?
no subject
I'll see what I can do. He's the helpful type, for some reason. [ Yuri rolls his eyes, but there's the flicker of a slight smile at the corner of his lips; fond. ]
I guess that depends. Do I have to donate the blood? Because if so, hell no. Go find your blood cattle somewhere else. Otherwise? Tch, whatever. Vampire has to drink too, right? [ He didn't know until exactly this moment that Riverview might have real vampires- but honestly he can't even say he's all that surprised. He'd seen some weird shit, since showing up here... ]
no subject
Thank you. What's his name?
[Huh, the Mundane - Alec assumes that Yuri's a Mundane - reacted better to that surprise than Clary and Simon would have post intro to the Down World.] You wouldn't have to donate unless you wanted to. Some people are into it but most people aren't. If anyone tried without permission, they'd get thrown out.
Calling them 'blood cattle' might get you in trouble with the customers.

[ Even just saying Otabek's name makes him fond; proud. The love of his life had accomplished so many things... and with so many things yet to come. He's really happy that he'll be there to witness it all. ]
Yeah, I wouldn't be donating thanks.
Just thrown out? [ He snorts. ] Seems like it should call for something more serious than that. Whatever though man, your club your rules.
[ He shrugged, rolling his shoulders back and letting out a soft puff of breath. A smirk slowly spread over his lips though, one eyebrow cocking as he leaned backward, tipped his chin back and drawled out, ] What, are you joking?
Call it a special and I bet every hipster in the land will be falling all over themselves to be the first to try it. [ He lifts his head up again, just grinning like a shit head. ] Sell it for eight dollars a glass, make money hand over fist.

a music club - that's good, minsu should definitely be well by the time it opens. music and dancing and drinking are all enjoyable, but he has a question of his own:]
Will there be a menu or just drinks?
no subject
My parabatai has been discussing a menu, but he's more interested in sweet than savory. I'm thinking there'd be a few selections, but nothing really elaborate.
Are you asking so you know if you can get something to eat or are you a chef? [He thinks he can convince Jace to share the kitchen. Eventually.]
no subject
[and dancing works up an appetite. though to be fair, breathing works up an appetite for minsu.]
Your paragraph should reconsider! You're going to have a bar, right? That means you should serve spicy foods, spicy! So people will buy more drinks.
I recommend hot wings.
video | @Angelus.ignis
I like savory, too.
[ He gives Alec a look when he gets called a paragraph. Not amused. Why can't Mundanes get it right. Simon called him a comic book hero. Which...he actually discovered was pretty cool. But a paragraph? At least parakeet was amusing. ]
Dancing makes people thirsty too. If not, you're not doing it right. Why wings?
[ Why not something else? He never really ate food at a club so he's interested in what could help make Alec's club better than the rest. ]

I didn't hire him. We're a package deal. Where I goest, he goes.

In slight seriousness, if you need help with anything, let me know?
no subject
I may need more help before we open to get everything ready. I know Magnus can cast a spell and have everything set up, but that seems like cheating.

I can sing and at home I had a guitar.
no subject
I don't think there's a guitar in the club, but we should be able to find one for you.
Have you performed in front of an audience before?
no subject
Not like this, but my brother and our friends never tried to take it away from me.
no subject
Do you mind that our customers might not be human?
