Hi Riverview! My name's Gabby and I'm new here! I was in New York before. The one with the superheroes. And now I'm here! Unfortunately, I think I lost all my stuff? And my caseworker kind of freaked out when I gave her the list, so maybe you guys can help me!

I'm missing my MAC-10 machine pistols, nunchucks and knuckle busters. Anyone knows where to get those? Oh, and a proper bullet proof suit.

My life's always been kind of weird.

Fair enough. You did say that you're a superhero– what are your superpowers?

[honeybadgerer]

I've got a healing factor. And I can't feel pain.

[ granted the last one is less of a superpower and something that is killing her slowly, but details! ]

And I've got a claw in my hand.

[scholiast]

(okay this is a lot hold on)

Right, as you said before. How... do you have a claw in your hand?

(Maybe she means she has a claw instead of a hand?)

[honeybadgerer]

[ uhh how to explain this to other people ,,, ]

I'm a mutant. Kinda. Mutants are born with powers.

[scholiast]

Huh.

Are there many different ways to obtain 'superpowers' on your version of Earth? Or is it only mutants who can get them?

[honeybadgerer]

There are a lot of ways. Space rays, radiation, Terrigen mist. Cloning. It depends.

I'm a clone so that's how I got mine.

[scholiast]

(Lucretia takes a moment to furiously scribble all of this down before answering. She doesn't know what 'Terrigen' is, so that word is circled, but the rest makes sense within the context.)

You're– a clone... (she writes that down, still focused on her book, and then seems to realise what Gabby has just said.) Wait.

A clone of what?

A clone of another mutant. That's how I have powers.

[ sort of. gabby having them was unexpected. ]

Sure, that makes sense.

(literally nothing makes sense)

Is... your clone here?

An alternate version of my original's here. She's younger than me though.

[ normally, gabby would say my sister, but she gets the feeling lucretia's a little overwhelmed. ]

(Just a bit! Lucretia's trying to do a little family tree-esque diagram on the opposite page to the notes she's been taking, but it's getting confusing.)

Well, that's– good, that's good, that you have somebody here with you from home.

Yeah, I'm not worried.

[ though would she ever be worried??? what's worry???

she has some fears, but they tend to be muted since . . . she feels no pain. ]

Have you made any friends yet?

No . . . I don't think so.

Well, there are a lot of children who live here too; I'm sure it won't take long to get to know them and make friends.

After all, you have cool superpowers.

[ gabby's not sold. not that she can't make friends, but it's not something she's ever had in abundance. her world is small and she knows how fragile it can be. she watched her family die in a cage after all. ]

I can make friends with adults too. I have adult friends.

[scholiast]

Yes. Sorry, I– of course you can.

(She's still a little awkward around kids after all, huh?)

(Maybe Gabby doesn't want to be friends! She's just assuming things, here.)

[scholiast]

A secret handshake?

(She brightens a little. Lup and Taako used to have a very complex secret handshake, but she was never privvy to that. They could complete it without looking at each other.)
