Video; Sleep Deprivation

[The video shows Ivar looking a little rumpled, the look of someone who has been trying to sleep and can't. He's cleaning out grime from under his fingernails with one of his knives as he speaks and it occasionally flashes into view.

Oddly enough, he's smiling, his eyes just a little too bright. It's not a happy smile. When Ivar gets angry, sometimes, he smiles in a way that says he's going to rip your throat out with his teeth if you get too close. His tone sounds oddly cheerful as he speaks.]

To whoever is making that horrible racket that's keeping me awake, you have two options. Stop it. [Then his voice goes dark and furious.] Or I'll stop it. Trust me when I say my way will be a lot more unpleasant. [He never stops smiling even as he turns off the video.]

[Just ignore that look on Ivar's face as he realizes the implications of what he just said.]

Then we have something in common. My father was descended from Odin, the All-Father of the gods.

But I wouldn't say no to the rain. It is calming.

[ Now Loki locks the feed. He needed to be sure he got Ivar's attention first. ]

A few snakes between the sheets often make people think twice about sleeping. As well as give some consideration to those who cannot.

[ He pauses and offers the boring route. ]

Or I find, if you destroy their precious electronic devices, that's usually enough to reconsider.

[ Most mortals are like Stark, after all. They whine constantly when their toys break. ]

[Don't tell Ivar that. His bite is far worse than his bark. As for being touched by madness, it is the truth. He enjoys killing far more than any Viking does and they're a bloodthirsty lot. Even his brothers are scared of him for a reason.]

Either someone is playing music that sound like the screams of battle or they've gotten into an loud argument with someone.

Where am I going to find snakes at this hour?

[Not that it doesn't sound like a valid suggestion. He's just wondering how he's going to pull it off now.]

Sounds like screaming. I don't know if it's music, someone being tortured, or sex, but I ceased caring about the source half an hour ago. If it doesn't stop in the next five minutes, someone is going to end up dead.

[He has a lot of practice killing people in their sleep. They'll never see it coming.]

[ Hm. He weighs his options and the idea of fucking with people wins out. ]

I can provide some easily.

Well, now you might have a problem. What if they're already dead? You going to resurrect them again just to kill them?

[He would be well suited for the Wall, or maybe even the Free Folk. There was something about him that reminded Jon of Tormund or the Thenns. He was young though, a boy with a bit too much blood lust.]

I don't see that disturbing you, if it is screaming from the battlefield.

[You learn eventually to sleep through it.]

[He has no idea who's helping him. Oh, when Ivar finds out...]

At this rate, I'm following them straight to Hel and coming back if that's what it takes to stop this racket.

[He's already unstable as it is. Not getting sleep is only going to exacerbate the problem.]

( And just like that, she becomes fascinated. ) Do they have tails, and fins in the stories of your people?

I... ah, well. Must thank you for the compliment. Words I have not often heard spoken genuinely of me.

( Undeterred, she smiles at him warmly. There is somewhat endearing about him. )

Really! You know, before I arrived here I might have found both tales preposterous. But here we are, and anything is possible. That is a rather fortuitous thing to have in common.

Then it will be as you wish.

( She has not done this by herself before; it takes more effort, and so she closes her eyes, inhaling and exhaling deeply. The sky darkens overheard; and then the light patter of a gentle rainfall might be heard. )

[Far too much blood lust for comfort. It would lead to kin-slaying in the end, though that had yet to happen. You had to be filled with a special kind of rage to watch someone be blood eagled with something approaching joy.]

Screaming I can deal with. But it's vibrating loud enough to come straight through the walls. I can feel it running straight through me.

[He finishes picking grime out from under his nails and so he flips the knife over into his other hand. Ivar still isn't convinced cutting someone's throat isn't a valid solution to the problem.]

Floor five. Bed five. Watch out for my roommates. Some of them are prone to lashing out if woken up suddenly.

If I wanted to sleep alone, I would. But having lived with three brothers most of my life, I prefer this.

[There's a pause.]
