Bond 3 [@prof.sycamore: Video]
[Once the video starts, you can see Professor Sycamore sitting on his bed in the communal floor, who is contemplating about something until he shifts his sight to the camera.]
I know this is a weird question coming from me, but do you have any suggestions regarding self-defense weaponry and training?
Since these monster attacks are escalating around the Quarantine, I'm worried that my Garchomp will get hurt from fighting them in terms of their strength and I want to know how to defend myself if she's incapacitated.

video, un: j.k.
Also, escalating how?
Re: video, un: j.k.
And I don't think they are actually escalating, but I do notice some of the residents outside the Perimeter Guards are getting some self-defense training and weapons.

Pokemon?
Precautions, then. Not a bad idea. I used to be a lot better than I am now, but if you need a starting place you could probably do worse than with me, too. Assuming you haven't gotten a more competent offer.
no subject
Well, there is a suggestion in here that I should get a gun and learn how to use it at the Perimeter Guards...
no subject
[ Color his curious. ]
That's not a bad idea but I prefer to be well-rounded. Depends on how far you want to go in teaching yourself self-defense.
no subject
[Not to mention that he had to spend a few hours explaining what are Pokemon are. At least that allowed him to create a night class specifically about Pokemon for the residents to know.]
You're right. Everyone has their way to learn how to fight, right?
Still, I'm not exactly comfortable with using guns.
no subject
[ A professor is probably one of the best solutions to a sudden influx of fauna no one else knows how to deal with. ]
There's nothing wrong with that. That suggestion is half on the money, though. You'd probably be better going to the Perimeter Guards but I'll leave my offer on the table anyhow.
no subject
Okay, thank you for your suggestion. But I'll think about your offer in case I get second thoughts.
no subject
Sure thing. Name's Jacob Kane. You feel like talking more about those magic creatures?
no subject
Are you interested in them?
no subject
You could say that. I don't have anything approaching magic back home, much less a whole species. No unicorns, no vampires, no mermaids, no nothing.
no subject
Well, I have a night class about Pokemon. It's open to everyone if you're interested.
no subject
[ Definitely interested. ]
no subject
I usually have lectures on the basics about Pokemon and how to catch and take care of them.
no subject
[ Cain presumes the mentioned "Garchomp" is one of these pokemon, but... what, he went and domesticated it himself? Really? ]
no subject
[He then shows the said item to Cain onscreen.]
Of course, you need to weaken a Pokemon or befriend one in order to capture them
no subject
Weaken with... other pokemon? Or otherwise just find a nice one.
no subject
But if you befriend it and the Pokemon can trust you, you can capture it without having to battle.
no subject
no subject
But if you don't want to engage in a Pokemon battle, you can keep them as pets instead.

[Obviously, that's what Pokemon Professors do.]
no subject
[ He's done the college thing before, he can totally do this! ]
no subject
I'll see you in class then.
[Yup, he is happy to see a new student in class.]
no subject
[ He'll be a good student, he swears! ]
video | @2b
[2B sounds sceptical herself, but you never know until you ask, right?]
Just checking.
Re: video | @2b

It's self defense, isn't it? A way for you to fight an opponent if your... Pokemon is defeated, as opposed to providing support for her.
no subject
And yes. I am aware that these monsters are not like any Pokemon and I'm worried when Garchomp is too injured to continue fighting.
no subject
Tactics similar to what D types use could allow you to defend yourself for a prolonged period of time, but only in confined spaces. I'm not sure if humans have the durability for it either.
Would a more evasive approach suit you, I wonder.
no subject
An evasive approach might be a good idea, but what if I can't escape from the monster's grasp without my Garchomp around?
no subject
[2B sounds like she has an idea. A view of what kind of combat style would be good here is starting to crystallize in her mind.]
I'd like to assess your physical abilities. If it's alright.
no subject
Yet, he is surprised at what 2B just suggested.]
You mean assessing my own abilities, right? I guess so.
no subject
Otherwise we may be committing a dangerous mistake.
no subject
Where shall we meet then? I'm free for this afternoon.
no subject
[Talk about no pressure.]
The location is well-equipped with everything we need. The evaluation shouldn't take much time.
[She tries to sound reassuring, despite saying some pretty serious things.]
no subject
[Despite his calm tone, he is little worried when it comes to his physical ability due to his profession and his reliance to Garchomp.]
I hope I can see you soon.
[With that, he left the communal housing to get to the Perimeter Guard.]

[Just... pretend that's a normal name, Reyes. Anyway:]
Buy a gun. They're a dime a dozen. If you want to learn how to shoot it, go to the perimeter guard station and I'm sure whoever's on duty will show you what end of it you point at the enemy.
[Friendly.]
no subject
I don't know if it would help me out...
no subject
There's no skill or fancy training necessary to learn how to shoot one.
Why do you think it wouldn't 'help'.
no subject
Still, it is one of the best options that this masked man suggested so far.]
You're right. I'll see if I can able to take some lessons at the Perimeter Guard later.
Besides, someone invited me to the training ground for my physical assessment.
no subject
In my world, at least.
The technology in this world and mine are different.
[This is normally where someone would mention that they're part of the perimeter guard and that he has experience in training people to shoot, but here he is, being an asshole and not offering.]
no subject
no subject
I'm sure you get that I wouldn't be keen on giving you one of my own.
no subject
[Still, he is little impressed at his world's advanced technology.]
Regardless, thank you for the suggestion, but I will have to think about it regarding on using a gun.
