[ The look on Tony's face as the feed clicks on is clearly unamused. Possibly even Unamused, capital and all. Why is he so irritated you might ask? Well, don't you worry about that, he is bound to let you know. As soon as he finishes sipping on his coffee in a more than obnoxious way. If you look close enough, and know Tony, you will be able to see a darkness beneath his eyes, the kind that comes with too much coffee and too many ideas and not enough hours in the day, so clearly he has to sacrifice some of the night for the Greater Good or some shit.
Whatever. That is why there is coffee.
Once the coffee has been consumed, Tony gets up from where he is sitting, and it becomes very obvious that he is in the kitchen on the floor, a kitchen you have all seen thanks to a Viking, but there is no sign of him now. However, there are signs of someone making a rather large breakfast here (if only you could smell it, seriously, Tony would kill to eat some of it okay) and not sharing.
This? This is why Tony is unamused.]
Really, you come in here, use the space and leave the dishes, while also not sharing?
[ Steve is gonna be annoyed. Not that he isn't usually in that state. The images shifts as Tony puts the phone down, and there is the sound of more coffee making its way into his cup while you get a lovely view of the ceiling. Look, no scorch marks. Yet.]
That's just rude, even for gods of chaos and mischief. And here I was going to make you a fancy partial AI for your phone. Ha.
[ Look, he doesn't know if it was Loki, but he assumes it is. Because if it was Steve or Bucky they would have shared, and he is pretty sure that Stephen only eats things that are still moving, and Billy-- well maybe him too. But for now, his ire is on Loki.]
Also, working on some ideas for the defence perimeter, some new weapons and targeting systems, if there is anyone that has any ideas, let me know. I mean, I've probably already thought of it, but still might be nice to bounce ideas around.

but the real reason steve doesn't bring it up is because he figures this tony stark is enough like his tony stark that it wouldn't make any difference anyway.]
I'd be interested in hearing your ideas.
no subject
Though Tony does do a bit of a double take when he realises this is Steve. Well, a Steve. An eyebrow goes up and Tony puts his chin in his hands and smirks a little.]
We do work well as a team. Was hoping I could meet up with you and... other you, and whomever else is on the search team you have there to talk about strengths and weaknesses in the perimeter. Also, if you have any info on what the hell might be out there because that would make my life easier. And yours really.
no subject
we do work well as a team, he says, and steve looks momentarily stricken before he recovers his game face.]
I've heard rumors. Thought about checking them out. ['thought about' as in he's doing it come hell or high water.] These things that you're working on, do they have a manual override installed?
no subject
And Tony catches that look. Knows that it means him and Steve are not on great terms at the moment and, well, isn't that just the way of the world. Tony sits up a little straighter and laughs quietly at the 'thought about' comment.] You mean you are going to, you just haven't had time yet. If you want backup, I have the suit here and she's ready to go if you need me.
[ Because a Steve is a Steve no matter the universe it seems.
He looks a little confused at the question, but not entirely. He knows where Steve is going with the line of thought once he hears the tremor; something like distrust.]
You and I really don't get along well, do we? If it makes you feel better, Captain, I will put override codes in.
no subject
[because steve wants to address that thing about them not getting along first. wants to, but what can he really say right now? he doesn't want to get into the whole 'my best friend killed your parents, but i wouldn't let you kill him, so we almost killed each other instead' but it happened. he takes a deep breath.]
I'd just feel better if we can keep a hand on the wheel.
[maybe he should save the 'warning shot' and 'stun options' conversation for later.]
You're right, I am going out there. The company would be welcome.
[because if he can't fix things with the tony he knows, maybe he can keep from making an enemy out of this one.]
no subject
[ And if you need to, lie better please because knowing you're lying to him, even if you aren't his Steve, kinda hurts. He likes it more when you are trying to cave his face in thanks.]
I'll add override codes, verbal ones. I can build a few manual ones in, but that isn't the best plan if we have sentient creatures on our hands here. So, save that idea for after some recon.
[ But Tony smiles, a small thing, at the acceptance.] You wanna head out later this afternoon, or give it a day?
no subject
steve considers his counter suggestion, and he can see the logic in it. so he nods, compromise accepted.]
I'm ready to get out there. [and that is the truth.] The more we know and the faster we know it, the better. There's a lot of innocent people counting on that.
no subject
Of course you are. [ There is amusement in his tone, but his eyes are sharp. Cataloguing difference and similarities and trying to figure out what of Steve is still there. What he can trust.] Let me finish my coffee and I will meet you outside the communal housing, sound good?
no subject
What, you're not bringing enough to share?
[but he's already on the move. he's eager to do the same, already seeing things in tony that are familiar, curious about the things that are different. maybe someday he can tell him everything, but he's willing to bet that there's things he doesn't know too.]
I'll be waiting.
video >> action
I suppose I might be able to scrounge up another cup if you feel like you need it, Captian Morning Person.
[ Is he rolling his eyes as he downs the coffee? Maybe. Tony smirks a little, raising the cup in a salute before turning it off. It doesn't take him long to call the armour, wrapping himself in red and gold and the familiar hum of electronics and head for the front doors.
Maybe it is weirdly optimistic of him to assume that everything will go well with this Steve, despite the obvious distrust that he had. Maybe Tony was more of a masochist than he thought, whatever it was-- well he didn't want to be stranded here and be on bad terms with the one person in the world he thought he could trust, even if it was a different version of him. His Steve was-- he seemed strained. There was a tension there that reminded Tony too much of bad blood between them and terrible secrets.
It stung really.
So when he shows up out front, red and gold and blinding, it is with a thermos of black coffee and a grin that is sharp as soon as the armour goes clocked, leaving it looking like Tony is standing there in jeans and a t-shirt.
Steve might notice that this armour, aside from its ability to apparently turn transparent, is sleeker and more refined and, in a sense, smaller than what he might be used to.]
Here you go, sunshine. Beautiful black coffee.
video >> action
but he still stands out less than that armour that the other man's wearing - until it disappears. that's new, and the look of surprise on steve's face before he reins it in says as much.]
Thanks. It's been a few hours since my first cup.
[because he really is a morning person, obnoxiously so. steve takes the thermos as he continues looking tony up and down.]
Looks like you've got a few upgrades on your suit.
action
The reaction at the armour doesn't go unnoticed, and Tony makes a note. Tony's eyebrow twitches and it is almost like he holds back a smirk, almost. He hands the thermos over and scoffs a little, you and your damn mornings. This is like... time to go to sleep. (Or, in the case of today, time to get coffee so he doesn't have to sleep.)]
Yeah yeah, whatever. You gonna ask me to dinner after checking me out like this, Rogers?
[ He is joking, amusement clear in his blue eyes, as Steve catalogues the differences between what he knows and what is before him. It is clear that this Tony is taller, by nearly half a foot, and broader too. But aside from that, it will be difference in the little things.]
action
I'm not used to seeing it disappear like that. [that's his story and he's sticking to it, though he now he's noticing just how much taller tony is too. he looks like he could be a brawler even without the armor.] Reflective metal? Kind of like what the helicarriers had?
[c'mon, tell him your secret. steve blinks once he remembers that they were supposed to be meeting up for a little more than mid-morning chit-chat.]
Let's head out. I promised I'd get you home before curfew.
[a little bit of a smirk in return.]
action
Uh huh, sure you're not. It's okay, I won't tell. [ Is Tony laughing at you? Yeah, maybe a bit, but it's not in a mean way. Shrugging at the questions, Tony allows himself his own look at Steve. He is-- well the presence is the same, that much is for sure. Something that resonates within the blond that screams trust and try-hard and good. Not always right, but good at least.
It makes Tony's teeth ache.]
Now now, I am not handing out secrets to Stark technology if your Tony doesn't already have it. That's like... timestream crossing and let me tell you, dealing with that shit is never fun.
[ No really, it fucking sucks. He is Not Going There.]
Awww, you don't like me enough to keep me out all night? I think I'm hurt.
action
[which must be a big surprise to no one ever.]
You afraid that I'll run back and tell the other you? [that's not gonna happen, for more reasons than one. but maybe tony's right (le gasp). the less steve knows about some things, the better.] Anyway, if we find anything out there that's more than we can handle, we can come back and regroup.
action
[ Sorry Steve, this is going to be a thing that he pushes because you seem a little less inclined to either punch him or leave at his incessant flirting.]
Uh, yeah a little. I mean, my Steve-- well, most of the time he might? Maybe? Depends on whether or not there was the potential for time stream fuckery that erased large parts of the world. Which, has happened and let me tell you, not fun.
[ He will leave out details, just for you. ] I don't think we will find anything we can't handle unless there are Inhumans, there are a few of those that are a bit much.
action
[he rolls with it, not taking it seriously. he almost comments that he and his tony have more of a history of keeping things from each other than running to tattle, but that's probably not a can of worms to be opening right about now.]
I don't have any personal experience with them. I get the impression that they most of them just want to be left alone.
[he's seen stuff on tv. he usually turns it off when someone inevitably starts spouting fear and hatred.]
action
[ There is a smirk with the wagging of his brows just for effect at that. He doesn't know how far he would actually push it, but the chance to flirt this outrageously really couldn't be passed up.
And best not to open that can of worms, Steve probably doesn't want to know what Tony has done in order to keep the world safe. He would probably be as pissed at him as his other self.]
Mmm, they do. But sometimes they think they are better and... well, that is never a fun time. So here is to hoping we don't run into that.
[ He shoots Steve a grin, the suit flickering back to solid from cloaked, but now it's black instead of red and gold.] Race you to the perimeter?
action
he smiles a little bit.]
Count of three?
[he takes off running around 2.5.]
no subject
There is a metallic laugh from Tony as he nods at that, followed by a noise of indignation when Steve totally starts running early. Not that he is super surprised.]
Cheat! Oh my god Steve, did you just--
[ The rest of the sentence is cut off by the sound of the suit flaring to life, and catching up to the super soldier. It doesn't happen as quickly as it could have, but Tony figured that hitting the sound barrier was probably cheating more than just getting a few half seconds of a head start.
When the suit and Tony catch up, Tony can't help giving Steve a half-assed salute before:]
Last one there has to buy the other dinner!
[ He doesn't think twice about it, there was something familiar about the way he could interact with this Steve. Sure, there was a wariness there but-- it reminded him so much of when times were simpler. ]
