I noticed other new arrivals asking after their friends. While I could do that, my friends are generally difficult to miss. The Krogan ones especially.

The welcoming party and I had a bit of a go and that landed me nowhere. Sooo I figure maybe someone can help a poor guy out and show him where he can crash? Maybe even find something to eat that won't kill him?

That last one might be a little much to ask for.

When you arrive they usually give you a place to stay. Most of us get roomates.

You'll know one when you see one. Or you'll know one by the path of destruction it leaves behind. Same difference, really.

Krogan? Dangerous? No. [The sarcasm is pretty thick, but it's more amused than hostile.] Honestly, everyone has the potential to be dangerous. That's not exclusive to one race only.

Floor six is what I was told. Now where this housing unit is, I have no idea.

No, it's not. But what I meant is that there are many different races here, and most of us didn't even know there were more than two.

The sixth floor is communal. It means it has two rooms there and each has five beds - you can just pick one.

If it helps, imagine a seven foot tall reptilian tank. Because that's basically a Krogan in a nutshell. If he's drinking, run. If he's charging, definitely run.

[That helps, right? Garrus finds this useful in any case.]

Two rooms... Better hope they are pretty big ones then. ...Not that I have a lot of stuff, mind you.

It's not a mansion, but I think there is enough room for everyone.

Even if there wasn't, I'd find a way. Anything's probably more comfortable than where I parked my stuff on the ship.

I'm sure most people won't approach someone with a shotgun, anyway [ kaneki definitively wouldn't. ]

There are beds, so that's nice. And also a kitchen and bathrooms, so I think it is pretty comfortable, even if there isn't much privacy. [ sadly. he wishes he had more ]

Other Krogans would. Shepard would.

Privacy comes and goes. You don't get too much of it when you're in boot camp or serving on a ship. I take it you haven't had to share like that before?

Who's Shepard? [ are these people he should know about, even? ]

Uhm-no. Back home I had my own apartment. [ it was small and nothing special, but it was kaneki's place ] I prefer to have enough room to keep my things. [ and to eat without anyone noticing him, that would be grand too. Overall, kaneki thinks he should be living with other people ever because of his situation ] You lived in a ship?

Nothing wrong with having your own private space. I haven't had much use for an apartment since I left C-Sec, but you never know. That could change now. I am wondering just how long you've been here if you're already started to accumulate things that need space to store them in.

[It'd be nice if Shepard was. Then he'd know if they were alive or not after that blast. Maybe it's just hopeful thinking, but if anyone could do it, then it would be Commander Shepard.]

As in physical copies of books? Like, paper and ink?

[Excuse him for a moment if that is surprising. It has been so long since any of their cultures actually used that sort of thing. Everything could just be downloaded or written on a datapad these days.]

Er... I've been all over the galaxy really. Most of that wasn't exactly a pleasure cruise.

Yes- that's normal, right? I know there are ebooks and similar, but I prefer the actual thing. [ he likes to touch the pages and the cover, and feel the weight and be able to smell them. ]

I'm sorry to hear that. It's a bit humbling, though, to know there is so much out there.

It's not as normal where I am from. Not anymore anyway. For collectors or lovers of vintage things, maybe.

[Space? Humbling? Yeah, Garrus can probably agree to that. Just when you think you're getting used to being dropped onto planets and nothing can surprise you... It does. So many unexpected things can happen.]

It is, but at the same time? Can't complain about some of the views.

And-uhm! I can imagine it must look amazing. You are really lucky.

I think that's just the nature of things. It's easier to use and less wasteful.

[Poor trees or animals or whatever is used to write on. Can't be the same across all cultures, after all.]

Still, I've heard that the "musty old book smell" is a favorite.

My world's technology is too far behind for me to do that. Unless I do it here, I guess? I'm not sure if such a thing is possible.

Sometimes technology jumps in leaps and bounds. I mean humans achieved in sending someone to the moon in less than one hundred years from when they made their first plane, right?

You never know.

Hm! That's true. And it doesn't hurt to hope, either.

Hope can be a pretty powerful thing. I've seen it pull an entire galaxy together.
