So, uh, my name is Billy Kaplan.

[And from the looks of it, he's sprawled out on his bed in the communal housing, camera held above him steadily. He makes a face.]

I have no idea what to say about myself. I was a student back home and I know a little magic. [He's a little tentative about that one, but-- he's not sure there's a point in keeping it secret here either.] But marketable skills? I'm not so sure about that one. I guess I need to figure something out though.

[Considering he's going to be here for a while...]

I guess I'm making this to ask what all of you plan to do here? If you have any definite plans at all, I mean.

[Her eyes light up with enthusiasm at the sight of it.]

Oh, that seems very useful. I don't know about the entertainment value, but... in my world magician simply means 'one who uses magic'. I'm one as well, although... my only talent is speaking to the dead. I believe I'm to understand most worlds dislike such magic.

[He did try to bring somebody back from the dead... sort of, after all. He can't point fingers.]

Can you speak to any dead person or... how does that work? It's pretty amazing, either way.

Back in my world I could speak to most anyone who died... and I could visit the afterlife as well. I haven't tested my powers as much here, but I can't hear the crow I brought with me from my world, so I assume I can't contact my own world's afterlife. So... I suppose if I'm lucky, I can find out what the afterlife is like here. But I haven't found any corpses yet, and I'd prefer a guard if I'm going to go about visiting the afterlife myself.

What was the afterlife like?

[He pauses, hesitating.]

I went to hell, once. A type of it, anyway... I had to go fetch someone. It was-- well, about as horrible as you can expect.

[She brightens up at the topic of the afterlife - it's one of her favorite things to talk about.]

The Netherworld is a lovely place - honestly, I've heard a lot of stories about people choosing to stay there instead of living. It has dreadful results, but... the temptation is there. It changes from person to person, but it sort of acts like a dream where one can speak to the dead, or be alone a while. It's very calm there... at least for me, but I've never seen another person's Netherworld. We can only share descriptions of what we each see.

That sounds amazing... I mean, it makes sense, that it'd be a personal thing, if that's where you go when you die.

Is it too personal to ask you what you see? I just don't get many chances to talk magic with a lot of people, and this place-- it feels like it's going to be giving a big chance to reach out more.

[She hesitates.] It is personal... but I suppose I can share a bit. My Netherworld was a giant forest, with paths of dead leaves that crackled underfoot, and riverbeds that dried up centuries before. Everything there was quiet... it was peaceful. But I didn't get many visitors after I died aside from my husband, and I do admit that made the quiet annoying.

Oh-- you died? I''m sorry...

[He sort of stuck his foot in his mouth there, didn't he?]

But it sounds-- lovely, I mean. Aside from the quiet.

No need to apologize. Death is an inevitability, so I don't see much point in grieving over it. It's a necromancer's job to soothe those who fear death.

Do you-- still act as a necromancer after you've passed or is it something that happens when you're alive only?

Well- as far as I know my powers are still functioning properly, if that's what you mean. I haven't had much of an opportunity yet to test them.
