[Tony has the awareness to know that saying people don't listen unless he pays them to is going to sound really pathetic.]

Steve isn't very fond of me, you don't have to be polite either. I already know.

[There's a pause while that one sinks in. It explains more of the man's behavior, why he might not act familiar with Steve and want to avoid him.]

I think that's sad.

[As usual, Steve responds with honesty.]

I won't say that Tony and I don't have our differences, because we do. We aren't always on the best terms. But I'm not just being polite and I don't hate him. Actually, I've been trying to change some of how things have been between us since we all got here. He's a decent man and a good friend who deserves the chance.

I don't know what you know, but I know I owe a lot of who I am today to Tony. His Avengers rescued me.
