[ someone's currently sitting atop the residential housing building, on the roof, tapping his sword against the side. it makes a clunk-clunk noise as a small, skeletal mouse with fairy wings burrows its way into his shaggy hair.

nico looks a bit worse for wear. the constant dark circles under his eyes are worse than before and he looks like he hasn't slept in days... ]

So now that the god issue has been taken care of, I got a question. Mostly for magic users. How many of us are there? And is there anyone who can get access to Nectar or Ambrosia, or who could make some? It's kinda important.

[ clunk-clunk, he taps his sword again and then sets it aside to continue talking. as he does, his hands move and gesture, as one would expect from an italian. ]

Anyway, that's not the main reason behind this post. I noticed more new people showing up again. Makes me wonder what kind of myths exists in other people's world.

In mine, the myths are actually real, but most mortals aren't aware of that fact. Is there anything similar in other places?

The stories they tell of Asgard in Heven have turned out to mostly be myth... And then, of course, there are the Earth myths of gods and Angels that are in fact true.

Most of the myths of the Greek gods are true, at least, so... yeah. I've never really listened to stories about Angels though. I'm guessing they're not fluffy white cherubs.

Far from it. They are ruthless warriors who do nothing without a price. They live by a strict code, both in their morals and in their society. Anything that deviates is cast out.

i guess that depends how you define a myth
does it have to be something old or are we talking any sort of shared cultural story that is supposedly fantastical?

like, for ex, in my world time travel's real, but only about ten people know that.

In my world, we don't have many. If there were, usually someone would be sent to investigate to determine whether it is real or not.

As for Myths we got stuff about the Ancients and Leviathan who I have seen. Both of them, though Leviathan isn't a big talker.

Nectar and Ambrosia are the drink and food of the gods, respectively. At least, they are where I'm from. Demigods can eat and drink a little of it to heal injuries and things like that. I'd like to find some because the amount I had on me is running out...

I'm not sure, to be honest. That's why I'm asking. Mortals don't realize the "myths" [ he uses finger quotes. ] they tell are actually true stories, with some minor deviation.

Oh? What's your myth? Leviathan is the god that we pray to in Wutai. He's known to be wise and powerful like the seas he commands.

Oh, that stuff. Yeah, I don't think I've seen anything like it in my world.

Just that it's a creature that lurks in the deep part of the ocean, but it doesn't command it. That's Poseidon, god of the Sea.

The gods require food and drink in your world? Fascinating. And a...demigod is...? What? A Half-god? Semi-god?

[It's not really something that exists in any mythos on Thedas, unfortunately.]

...ah, wait. If you have a supply of this Ambrosia and Nectar, which I assume you use for this purpose, am I also to assume you're one of these "demigods"?

[He waves a hand, as though speculation is pointless.] Of course you are, the way you go on about us "mortals" like that. [He doesn't seem phased by the prospect of Nico being a demigod. In fact, he seems like this is normal, and he meets deities all the time. Dorian is a good actor.

He taps his chin thoughtfully.] Well, I assume the figures from these "myths" haven't done anything worth the mortal world noting in quite some time if they've fallen into the obscurity of legend. That's just the thing, really. All myths and legends are true, at least in essence if not in detail. It's only that the world at large has forgotten them to be true that they've become hearsay, or as we like to call it, "myth".

They don't need it, but they like eating it. They like eating mortal food sometimes too, depending on the god.

[ a shrug and he taps his sword against the side of the building again. ]

But you're right; I am a demigod. My mother was a normal human, but my father is the god of the Underworld where I'm from. Most people from my world have heard of him, so he's not likely to fade any time soon, but I have seen what you're talking about happen to gods. Their stories are no longer told and they die, in a sense.

Do you require this divine sustenance to heal or would any sort of magic do?

[He's not one to forget the original point, even when intellectual conversations were afoot, but he does so love to learn.

He's quiet for a moment, obviously mulling over the implications of what Nico has just told him.] Just a moment. [He raises a hand.] Fade, you say? [He's quiet a moment longer, looking away from his device and contemplative before a light seems to come over his features as he smiles.] Ah ha! So, you are claiming that gods in your world depend on mortal thought to thrive? That...our mere knowledge of your father, for instance, sustains his being. These...gods who have been forgotten, have they died then?

Yes and to put things shortly, yes. Pan, the god of nature, faded because humans no longer took care of nature like they should. There have been others, but I saw Pan's death firsthand.

[ something that still lingers in his mind. because pan had something to say for nearly everyone there at the time except him, and he'd always wondered why. was it his connection to death? nico doesn't think he'll ever know that answer. ]

But as for any sort of magic, I suppose other forms of healing might work. I've never really tried, to be honest. It was either Nectar and Ambrosia or nature healing and a drought made from powdered unicorn horn.

I am not particularly skilled in the healing arts, but I'm sure someone is. I'll have a look around and see what I find.

There are a lot of things that've always only been myths in my world that are suddenly possible. People that can fly and shoot fire from their hands, people who can run on top of water, time travel, all of that.

What're myths like, where you're from?
