[ Magnus sticks a finger out at the phone's screen, tapping the glass and knocking the image out of focus for just a second. However, he quickly realizes he’s made a mistake and fixes the camera focus accordingly. ]

Sorry, I’m just not used to this kinda stuff. I think my fingers are too big for this thing... But I’ll figure it out quick! Anyway, hi, I’m Magnus, and… Well, I guess I’d be lying if I said I was completely happy to be here — [ His face looks as if he’s guilty to be saying this, but it almost instantly lights back up. ] — But I’ll make the most of it while I’m here! Y’know, I’m always happy to make new friends. Just let me know if you need, uh, a chair, or a bed, or a bodyguard or something!

[ He reaches forward to turn off the camera, but pauses, quizzical. He retracts his hand. ]

You should also let me know if you have a dog that I might be able to pet. …I hope dogs exist here.

[ The camera shuts down with the press of a button. ]

[Magnus immediately gasps in delight, bringing a hand over his mouth.] Your dog is so cute!! [He starts waving his hand in front of his phone like he's playing with Qiri.]

I've GOTTA meet your dog. He's so precious.

[That is by far the best reaction she's had. Second only to her own when she'd found herself face to face with the tiny ball of fluff.

The dog presses his nose against the screen as if trying to get to Magnus.]

He's precious and he has tiny needle teeth and a love of chewing on my leather boots, jackets, and bags. Just ask Taako, he's been witness to the frequent massacres.

[Still in his cutesy puppy voice:] Aw, bad boy! No chewing on leather goods!

Is Taako famous or something? Everyone keeps mentioning him to me. We've only talked, like, once.

[Oh. Well. That sure is a thing. Bryn masks her hesitation easily, and shrugs.]

We've become good friends since arriving here, it's just habit to mention him.

[No mention of who Magnus is to Taako, at least as far as Bryn knows. This is not her mess to dip her toes into, not without talking to Taako first.]

The important part here is that nothing is sacred to teething dogs so if you come to visit don't leave anything precious in reach of him, alright?

Huh. It feels like everyone around here knows him. He must be a really great guy.

I'm famously good with dogs. Well, I guess not around here, since I haven't... met any yet... but where I'm from, dogs love me. ... Trust me on that.

Are you famously good with training them also or just have one of those personalities or something that make them adore you?

[Why did Taako never tell her how adorable his friend is? He's so young and full of energy and it's charming to talk with him.]

The second one. Being a dog trainer would be amazing, but I'm kinda focusing on my carpentry right now.

Carpentry, hm? Any specializations? Preferences for the sort of work you do?

At my job right now I'm building houses n' stuff, but I usually like to build furniture. I also carve little animal toys sometimes? I'm not super good at that just yet, though.

Good to know. Maybe when you're settled I'll commission you to make me something for my apartment. It's a rather large space and could probably use another end table or bookshelf, honestly.

[And hand-crafted goods are always better than store-bought assemble-yourself crap, isn't it?]

Absolutely! I've actually already got one planned, so adding another to the list won't be a problem! Think about it and get back to me, and we can totally set that up.
