This thing sure is, uh, fancy.

[ Magnus sticks a finger out at the phone's screen, tapping the glass and knocking the image out of focus for just a second. However, he quickly realizes he’s made a mistake and fixes the camera focus accordingly. ]

Sorry, I’m just not used to this kinda stuff. I think my fingers are too big for this thing... But I’ll figure it out quick! Anyway, hi, I’m Magnus, and… Well, I guess I’d be lying if I said I was completely happy to be here — [ His face looks as if he’s guilty to be saying this, but it almost instantly lights back up. ] — But I’ll make the most of it while I’m here! Y’know, I’m always happy to make new friends. Just let me know if you need, uh, a chair, or a bed, or a bodyguard or something!

[ He reaches forward to turn off the camera, but pauses, quizzical. He retracts his hand. ]

You should also let me know if you have a dog that I might be able to pet. …I hope dogs exist here.

[ The camera shuts down with the press of a button. ]

Two. A fire one and an electric one.

[Not hyperbole there. He actually has some elemental horse Pokemon, a Ponyta and a Blitzle, both of whom are absolutely devoted to their master.]

Ooh, magic horses! That's something I gotta see for sure. ... Are they safe to ride like that, though? Like, you don't get burned or electrocuted?

Safe enough, though I haven't trained them on harness or saddle yet. It was told to me the fire one would never burn anyone he truly trusted and that's been proven true enough. They'll never hurt anyone unless they think I'm in danger. If I tell them someone is alright, they believe me.

[They were much more intelligent than normal horses, understanding everything that was said to them. Ivar was good with animals, for he much prefers them to people. Animals never judge him based on what he lacks.]

[He has to pause to let that info sink in.]

Oh, okay. So these are like, normal horses powered by fire and lightning. I thought they were MADE of fire and lightning.

Well, they kind of are. Skinfaxi, hitta hér.

[Skinfaxi, come here. The fire horse comes over dutifully, blinking his dark diamond eyes at his master. Indeed, his mane, tail, and the feathering on his legs are all made of bright orange-yellow flames. Ivar strokes his muzzle fondly.]

[ Magnus gasps a little. He's a little scared, but more than that he instantly loves this creature. ]

That's the prettiest horse I've ever seen!

[Magnus' reaction is enough to make Ivar smile. Complimenting his horse is one of the best ways to get in his good books.]

Isn't he just? He's the best horse. [He scratches behind Skinfaxi's ears, the Ponyta looking calm and content.] He's nearly big enough to be trained on a bridle and harness.

I gotta say, I'm suuuper jealous. I'm not exactly in a place right now where I can have a pet, but I'd LOVE to have a fire horse.

There's all sorts of creatures like him outside in the forest. They're called Pokemon. They came through the portal. Most are friendly enough.

[He'd already started making friends with the Ponyta when circumstances had forced Ivar to find a way to capture him instead.]

Technically, I don't have enough space for him either. Lucky for me he fits inside this little ball I was given when I need to put him someplace.

[He holds up the red and white Pokeball in his pocket, tapping the center to make it grow larger.]

Oh, I guess it's like a bag of holding, but in a little ball instead. I get it. ... Where can I get one of those? The ball, I mean.

[If he can get a hold of something like that, maybe he could keep a pet... But still, he's concerned.]

Is it humane keeping that big ol' horse in that little thing? I mean I know it's bigger on the inside, but is it happy in there?

The Pokemon Professor has some. His name is Sycamore, you can find him at the university here.

[Ivar should really go to more of his classes to get a better grasp of how to train his strange creatures.]

From what I've been told, it's like there's a field inside there for them to live in. Neither of mine seem to mind. And if they didn't like it, trust me, they would have let me know by now.

[He turns to look at Skinfaxi.] Do you mind living in there? [The Pokemon seems to consider this for a moment, cocking his head as he thinks. Then he shakes his head no with a snort. Ivar turns back to look at his phone.] There's your answer.

Professor Sycamore at the university. Got it. I'll be sure to hit him up.

[He addresses Skinfaxi in the same manner that Ivar does:] I'm glad it's comfy for you in there. Thank you for your input, most noble horse friend.

[Skinfaxi nods his head up and down in a pleased fashion, blinking his little diamond shaped eyes. Ivar runs a hand through his flaming mane.]
