Nah, as far as I got it figured out it's not any kinda magic, and it's not like uh, there's a creature back home that erases memory? But it's not that either. So, you know, working on ruling shit out, not so much on what the actual cause is.

Yes, several weeks back. Many of us lived lives that were different from the ones we truly have lived. We had memories of those separate lives, we were... physically changed, in some cases. [ She was missing an arm, for example. She glances down at the restored arm and makes a fist. ]

It was not a pleasant experience.

I do not believe it is of the same vein as the previous artifact. And I have been told it is not magical in origin.

[ Jim has a feeling this woman, whoever she is, likely would beat him to the ground until he was six feet under if he didn't handle this properly, but also— he's not some coward, and he'll own up at least in part to what happened here. So. Here he is.

What happened wasn't intentional on anyone's part. I don't know if you've been keeping up with the developments, but the outbreak was caused by a unique pollen that can be found beyond the wall. I led a team out there in search of a group of scientists a while back— they'd been affected the same way, and we had no idea what had caused it. Inadvertently, we brought along with us some remnants of that pollen, as well as a few samples of the plant, although they were contained safely. It was never my intention to spread that contamination to the Quarantine, and at the time we didn't even know what had caused the memory loss, but for what part I took in it, I am sorry.

[ He pauses, takes a slow breath. ] But it wasn't purposeful. And I would have reversed it immediately if I could, but I don't know how to do that, not yet at least.

[ Despite her reputation, Angela can be-- and often is-- a rational woman. Vexed though she is by watching her siblings look upon her with no recognition, when the cause of the affliction is explained so succinctly, she sobers herself to receive the information. Being on the Perimeter Guard herself, she understands the unknown element of the dangers one faces outside the wall.

She nods, solemn-faced. ]

If this was an officially sanctioned mission, then I accept your apology.

[ If you just went beyond the wall for kicks, then she'll be less inclined to forgive. ]

These scientists you speak of... Have they recovered?

[ Oh, good. That sort of calm and understanding is a nice and welcome reaction. Jim relaxes visibly, as if he was steeling himself for an argument or a fight he didn't want to have, relieved that it's starting to look more like a calm conversation. She's willing to listen, and that's a good start. ]

It was. We went beyond the wall to rescue the team and retrieve some of their research. We thought everything and everyone had been washed and decontaminated properly, but I guess some of the pollen must've made it through without us noticing it.

[ Well he does also go beyond the wall for no good reason at times, but he doesn't really bring back things if he thinks they might be dangerous. ]

Not yet. The last I heard, they were trying to study the cause and find a cure. They'll probably figure something out faster now, with more people affected.

[ He cants his head slightly, remembering her face from elsewhere. ] You're one of the Asgardians, right?

They had better. [ Figure out a cure, she means. She can't keep witnessing her siblings forgetting themselves. ]
