Have we not suffered enough, under the thrall of the artifact some months ago? [ She means the Temporal Chalice, which altered the lives and histories of so many here in the quarantine. ] Come forth and answer for your crimes. Reverse this plague and return our city to a state of peace.

[ Or else she'll cut you down where you stand, being the implication. ]

[ Jim shifts, tilting his head slightly. ] I'm Jim, Jim Kirk. Angela's your name, I take it?

It is.

[ He will notice she declines to give a last name. ]

[ Don't Asgardians have that whole no last name thing going on? Anyway, Jim doesn't ask, as he figures she doesn't have one. ]

Likewise. And I'm not sure there's much I can do, but if you need help with anything, let me know. I've managed to keep Loki a bit of company so far, but... Honestly, I feel a little useless otherwise.

[ Technically, her Asgardian name is Aldrif Odinsdottir, but she doesn't use that name so Angela it is. ]

I appreciate that. I fear, in his state, he does not... trust me.

Can't really blame him for it. When you don't even know who you are, it's hard to know who to trust.

He trusts you, though?

[ She won't act like that stings much. She and Loki are not as close as siblings would be had they been raised together. And she knows that in Loki's amnesiac state, the most important thing is that there is someone who can be there for him, even if it's not her. ]

I don't know. I know he does, normally. Right now, I couldn't tell you.

[ Jim can be plenty charismatic, with a sort of friendliness and honesty that makes him seem very trustworthy. So maybe even in his amnesiac state, Loki recognizes in him someone he can trust. He'd be the first to admit he's glad for that. ]

He's just... confused, and scared. If people extend a hand and try to help him, or even are just there to keep him company, he'll be grateful for that.

You're not. He's got plenty of people here who care about him, so however long it takes to sort this out, we'll be here to give him a hand and keep him safe.

Thank you. [ Not that he thinks he can really be blamed for it, but he does feel some level of responsibility, particularly when there's no way of knowing how the pollen got into the Quarantine. All it would take would be a few spores on someone's hair, a glove, one of the car tires. Anything that could've made it through the decontamination process. ]

If you need any help with Loki, let me know. [ He might not be able to do much, but. Well, no harm in offering, at least. ]

[ She is unlikely to call on him specifically, but... ] I would repay you for your kindness to my brother.

[winscenario]

Oh. [ He shakes his head. ] Thanks, but I don't need it.

[ She sighs. Must she really explain this every time she tries to repay someone? ]

It is important... in my culture, that nothing is done for free. You have done something for me, and now I am in your debt. I would have that debt settled.

[ Well, he's not familiar with her or her kind, so in this case, an explanation does come in handy. Luckily Jim's all too used to visiting strange new worlds and getting to learn new cultures, so he both promptly accepts her explanation and adapts to it quickly. He nods. ]

I see. In that case, I'll be glad to accept it.

[ Even if, technically speaking, he didn't do anything for her, but for Loki. ]
