Well this is fun. Finally confirmed that both my brother and my teammate are gone.
Lucky me. Probably ended up here because of them and now they aren't here.
So I guess it doesn't really matter what he thinks anymore.

Perfect. Where do you want to meet? If you're buying, you get to pick.

More to action?
sound good! - now with the correct account >.>
[And Lyle will grab his jacket and head straight to the coffee shop. It didn't take him long to get there and he stopped to wait for her]
yay
Hey. [Her smile grows a bit.] Ready to order?
[She had offered to pay.]
no subject
Hey there. Always good to see a friendly face. Yeah, I've decided. Do you know what you want or do you need a minute?
no subject
[Kate smiles up at him. She usually orders the same thing so she never has to take time to figure it out. She steps up to the counter and puts in her order before turning to Lyle. She pays as promised and then stands off to the side waiting for their drinks.]
How are you holding up?
[It's easier to talk in person about these things but she'll change topics if he prefers.]
no subject
Doing a bit better. It's just... weird. Second time I've lost him. I was hoping we could actually talk here, but it doesn't like that's going to happen.
[If he really wants to change the subject he will. He has no issues at all with that]
no subject
You two are brothers. [She begins in a soft warm tone.] Your fates are intertwined, no matter what, you'll find your way back to each other and you'll be able to talk. [Kate turns back to look up at Lyle with a soft smile.] Sometimes it just takes time.
I know that it isn't very helpful to hear but I know it's true.
[The barista calls out their order and Kate steps forward to take both her's and Lyle's.]
Here. Let's grab a seat over there. [She points at two couches circling a small table in the corner of the café. It's usually where she studies but it'd also be a nice place for a private conversation.]
no subject
[Well, it was true. Even vague optimism felt better than someone just shrugging and walking away. He could only hope that he really did have the chance to see Neil again so they could talk. This was one place that he would be able to talk to him ever again, but he wasn't sure he wanted to bring the conversation to that low of a point. There was a chance here.
He followed her over to over the couches that she had indicated. He hadn't really spent much time in here, but it was nice]
Thanks. And thanks for the invite out.
no subject
I owe you anyway. [She smiles as she takes a seat at one of the couches.] It's also nice to have company.
no subject
Lyle sits down on the couch, giving her a smile] Yeah it is. It's boring going somewhere and sitting alone. Done that a few too many times.
[He raises his cup of coffee] Sláinte.
[Cheers]
no subject
Well if you ever want company you can call me. [Kate tries and find ways to busy herself. She reads and works to much. It'll probably do her some good to go out and do things with other people.
She raises her cup and then takes a small sip.] So, what have you been up to in the city?
no subject
Sounds good. I'll let you know if I do. And the same to you. You can always call me.
[He took a sip of his drink before he answered]
I joined the Perimeter Guard as Special Vehicles Operator. Almost the same as what I did back home. Not too much exciting otherwise. What about you?
no subject
I also started to take some classes at the college here. I'm still trying to figure out what to do so I figured I'd try new things.
[Prior to her arrival, Kate had been dabbling in thievery which isn't exactly a normal profession.] What does a Special Vehicles Operator do?
no subject
Nice. What classes are you taking?
So basically we get to drive the vehicles that they have for the search and rescue team. They're a little more specialized than a regular car, better designed for the terrain.
no subject
I'll keep a look out for you. I don't think I can swing a discount on drinks but it'll be fun to see you there. [She likes talking to people, which is one of the parts of her job that she likes the most.] Engineering and Archology.
[She is trying to figure out what to do next and these two classes over a wide enough range that it gives her a taste of the things she can do and what she might have talent in.]
So, like off road vehicles? That sounds cool.
[It sounds like it'd be fun.]
no subject
[Discounts were nice and he'd never object to receiving one, but he never expected them]
Interesting combinations of topics. I always like things like history in school, call me crazy. Archeology seems like it would be something that would go along with it.
Yeah, they definitely do that. There's a lot of brush out there and we have to get through it in order to help.
no subject
[She admits with a warmer smile. It didn't usually take Kate long to warm up to people though she had been having trouble reaching out since her arrival. It doesn't help that she had spent the first few days of her arrival in the hospital but she's slowly moving forward, for whatever might come next.]
History is what I was looking into before I found myself here. There are legends in Mexico and I was speaking to the locals to learn more. Not everything could be translated easily. That's why I looked at Archaeology. It doesn't look like it's much different here but if I ever want to see ruins I'll have to find a way to protect myself.
I haven't seen the monster beyond the perimeter but I've heard they are there.
no subject
I've seen some of them. They are there. They are not fun.
no subject
[Though what had fueled Kate's initial interest had been a series of unfortunate and depressing events.] I know a little bit of Spanish. [Not as much as she would like.]
Why aren't the ruins fun?
no subject
Well, there's a deity in the ruins and obviously it didn't want to give up it's digs.
