video; @gamora
[ When the camera switches on, Gamora is in her apartment, Godslayer across her lap (diligently cleaned and freshly oiled), and she’s holding her communicator with her usual unreadable expression in place. ]
I want to expand my training opportunities. Those looking to spar or test their abilities – I want a challenge.
[ And with a slight lift of her brow— ]
Or let me know if you simply want others to practice with. Tell me how you prefer to fight, and we can work something out.
[ What a friendly and welcoming message.
… Except definitely the opposite of that.
Gamora is working on that “reaching out” thing, on trying to get a better idea of who and what surrounds her in the city, and she might as well use it as a chance to stretch her legs and potentially come up against a worthy opponent or two. ]

[ See? Problem solved.
She straightens up a little, pausing for a moment, before adding: ]
... Thank you.
no subject
What are you thanking me for? I haven’t done anything.
no subject
For agreeing to do this with me.
[ She may be sparring with other people for enjoyment, but training with Peter has a very separate purpose. They have a greater evil to deal with, and they can't do that if they aren't ready to face it. ]
And for taking it seriously.

His lips press together while he flounders for words, and he picks at a seam on his pants as he thinks. He knows fuck-all about Thanos; what he does know about him is all in the abstract, like knowing that T-Rexes were scary, back in the day, without ever having actually seen one in the flesh. He knows Nebula wants to kill Thanos, and so does Drax, and he knows that Gamora is afraid of him – which is practically inconceivable to Peter, considering he’s pretty sure Gamora is who the monsters in the closet and under the bed are afraid of.
So. Thanos is bad news. Peter may have confidence about his skills and his ability to improvise, but he’s not entirely sure how Gamora teaching him to take or throw a punch a little better will help them against the Mad Titan. If anything, he should be, like, studying strategy. Tactics. How to best wrangle feral cats. Because he figures if he has to be anything, he has to be the one helping to call the shots and keeping everyone in line.
Peter frowns at nothing for a second, thinking it over, before he looks back up to her. ]
So? When do you wanna do this?
no subject
[ She looks considering, crossing her arms over her chest as she thinks it over. ]
But we don't need to dedicate all of our free time to it.
[ They have time, after all – and there are other things they could be doing, together and separately. ]

So in between sparring sessions, what’re we doing? Washing cars? Painting fences?
[ Is Peter going to get The Karate Kid-treatment, is what he’s asking. ]
no subject
You can do that; I would rather attend one of the movies they are showing in the park.
no subject
Really? You wanna go see a movie?
no subject
[ Sitting in the park, watching a movie on a big screen (preferably with Peter).
She'd seen notices up advertising the evening movies, and something as simple as settling in the grass sounded nice or those tickets they offered with couches and other accommodations. ]
no subject
Yeah? I figured that kinda thing would, you know. Be, like, a little too, like, frivolous for you.
no subject
[ But she'd done it with him anyway.
... Which was not her openly admitting that dancing was enjoyable. ]
no subject
[ Archly, as he smirks at her. ]
I thought warriors were supposed to take themselves seriously and avoid having any sort of fun at any cost.
no subject
[ She says it blandly, without the urge to indulge him, though that smallest hint of a smile tugs at her own lips. ]
Perhaps I should refrain – though that would also mean no more dancing.
no subject
That sounds awful for you. Meanwhile, I’m gonna marathon, like, a bazillion flicks and dance the night away.
no subject
[ Though she keeps her expression carefully neutral as she says it, cocking a brow at him. ]
no subject
[ And he says it in his usual breezy way. Peter knows he has something of a silver tongue, when he's trying hard enough, knows he can talk his way into the company of more than a few folks if he tried. It's a statement of fact, as far as he's concerned. ]
But it wouldn't be the same without you threatening to, like, slit my throat.
no subject
Then is that your way of saying you would like to go with me?
[ Since she kind of suggested it in the first place, and really, if she wasn't interested, she wouldn't have given it another thought, but... she'd seen the posters, and her first instinct had been that it seemed like something Peter would like. ]
no subject
Yes, Gamora, I want to go with you.
[ If the phrasing is familiar, it should be. He's deliberately echoing her from when he asked her on a date. ]
no subject
When?
[ Considering there are plenty of opportunities, it's not like they'll want for something to see. ]
no subject
You know, when I'm not working, and you're not beating folks' faces in during your friendly sparring matches.
no subject
Or I'll make time.
[ She'll totally reschedule a beatdown to go to a movie with Peter. ]
no subject
Just tell me when, and I'll clear my schedule.
