Hello, kind citizens! Okay, listen, I noticed something tragic about Riverview and this is what it is: we are hugely lacking in the sports department. You know, like, intramural type shit? Sorry, stuff. Intramural type stuff. Anyway. I, Magnus Burnsides, aim to change this. Not to brag or anything but I do have some experience coaching a sportsball team, so I figured: why not put my experience to good use? Who wants to play sports with me?

I want this thing to be a community effort. If you know how to play sports, come coach a team! Doesn’t matter what the sport is! If you don’t know anything about sports but you’re curious, come learn with us! It’s not about being good—it’s about doing the sports! I want people of all ages, people of all sports backgrounds. Also, maybe, someone who’s good at organizing stuff because I’m not very good at that. Anyway, let me know what you think! If anyone’s down to help out, send me a message!

This is a great idea! :)

I know it's not a sport you play with a ball, but I'm an experienced boxer and could coach that. I'd love to be on basketball or hockey teams too. And if you need anything organized, I'm pretty decent at it.

Oh man, you have so much to learn, Magnus. Boxing and wrestling are totally different. You can only punch in boxing, but wrestling uses everything. Different techniques.

I tried wrestling for a bit in high school but it was the boxing that really stuck. I bet you're an awesome wrestler though. You're built for it.

The sportsball I coached was Rebound, but I'm open to like, all kinds of sports. Any sports. I'm down to learn stuff I haven't even heard of!

Okay, so— [He thinks for a moment about how to explain this, and then props his phone up so he can film himself making wild gestures as he explains.]

So there's like— You have the ball. [He waves his hands in a shape that could be either a basketball or an American football.] It's shaped like this. And you like, carry it— [He puts his invisible hypothetical ball under his arm like you would a football.] —across the court. And then you like— [He tosses it like you would a basketball.] —up into the hoops. And you can tackle people for it and stuff but no hitting. It's very strict on the no violence thing.

Kinda complicated. But fun!

I'm not much into sport ball types specifically...but I have noticed a lack of sports here.

Oh, I want to do more than just sportsball type sports! I also want like, running sports, and I bet there's people around here who even do flying sports. Not me, though. I don't have magic or wings.

I'm a figure skater. I know of others, but I don't play.

I haven't heard of any flying sports.

Hell yeah, I could use a good jersey! I don't even need it for a sport, I just like, want one.

If you're allergic to sports don't suffer through them for my sake. Also, not sure what an antihistamine is.

This sounds like a great idea. You know, there are two community centers, so if you want to make this a sort of Quarantine-wide community effort, you could involve both of them. I work at the central one, and I'd be happy to see what I can do to help you out. At the very least I should be able to find you a few players, whatever sports you want to go with.

Hey, that sounds great! We could start up a sports league with multiple teams that way! What kinds of facilities are set up there?

Well, there are a couple indoor fields, they can be used for several team sports like basketball, football, field hockey, the like. There's also a pool, two outdoor fields and a tennis court. They're not all in top shape, but I've been trying to clean up the facilities and mend what needs mending.

If you'd like, you can come by sometime. I wouldn't mind showing you around, and you can get a better notion of what we have there.

I definitely will! Especially since I haven't played any of those sports yet. I gotta learn how to play 'em if I wanna coach any little league.
