[ the feed opens with skeletal fingers holding the camera. then, it pulls back to reveal nico, sitting on a throne of bones with a silver crown atop his head. for a few seconds he merely smirks at the feed, twisting the silver skull ring on his forefinger. it's dark around him, candles on the ground nearby providing a little bit of illumination. where he's at is hard to tell, but it's obviously nowhere close to the communal housing. ]

You know, I love October. [ someone's more chipper than he was in his last post. ] It's my favorite time of year. When the boundaries between life and death are at their weakest. This is the time when we can learn the most about the past, learn the most from those that came before us.

Also, get a ton of free candy.

Naturally, this is my kind of month. And if anyone is interested, I can provide some free and real decorations. The kind you won't get in a store.

[ as if to demonstrate, the feed jostles as his skeletal cameraman tosses his head at nico. the son of hades catches it and twirls it on one finger like a basketball. ]

After all, this is my time.

Why do you get candy?

It's a tradition. Children dress up in costumes and go door-to-door telling the people inside "Trick or Treat". If the residents give candy, then the children move on. If the residents don't, the kids are free to play a trick.

It's for a holiday called Halloween. I'm not sure when Americans, people from where I lived, started celebrating it that way, but originally it was a holiday to celebrate and recognize those that have gone on before us.

It's a time when the spirit world and the mortal world are closest, so it's easier to commune with the dead. How it got to be that candy got involved, I'm not sure.

That works for girls, but guys have to dress a little more awesome. And no, I didn't spend a week. It only took me like five minutes. It's one of my powers.

I suppose that's true... but I think using real bones might be a bit much, people could run off before giving you candy.

...You at least cleaned them first, right? Before making them into a throne?

They're perfectly clean and even sanitary. And if people are afraid of me, that's their problem. I can get candy in other ways.

You know I use zombies to help me when I'm working at Loki's club, right? They're the perfect bad behavior deterrent.
