[ Jim's face greets the network, blue eyes alight with excitement and a big, happy smile on his face. He's dressed all proper in a flight suit, hair with that annoyingly perfect curl over his forehead, and behind him a glimpse of the front of the shuttle he's been working on can be seen. ]

Good morning, everyone! For those of you who don't know me, I'm Captain James T. Kirk, and for the six months I've been in the Quarantine, I've been a member of the Perimeter Guard as a surveyor. A couple of months ago, I took a small team to the waterfalls as we tracked down a mystery signal, and found an abandoned vessel there, buried in a cave. We brought it back with us, but it was severely damaged and it took a lot of work and sleepless hours to get it back into shape. However, it wasn't wasted time. I'd like to present to you all— [ He stands up and moves behind his device, so the camera focuses fully on the shuttle. ] the PGS Intrepid! [ ta-daaah ] She's good as new and fully functional now, and I'm excited to say she's ready to go well beyond the walls and all around the whole moon.

[ He comes into the view of the camera again, retaking his seat in front of it. ]

The shuttle is an invaluable asset of the Quarantine, and with her restoration, a new branch of the Perimeter Guard has been established: aerial survey and exploration. So far it's only Poe Dameron and myself, but I'd love to see more skilled pilots and explorers joining us.

Likewise, if you'd like to pilot the shuttle and have the skills to do so, but don't want to commit to that specific branch of the guard, there will also be flight permits available to any skilled pilots who might want to use the shuttle for quick trips and various missions.

On both these circumstances, there should be a small flight test to assess your skills.

Now, if you only have minimal or no knowledge whatsoever, but you're interested in learning, we'll also be offering piloting lessons, ranging from basic to more advanced depending on your current skill.

Oh good, because I'm not sure I could manage captain in any way that isn't just a little sarcastic or mocking.

[You may be a captain and she respects that, Jim, but you're not her captain or superior officer so she's glad to hear that it's not something that will be insisted upon.]

How's Leonard with all of this? Over the moon or grumping about all of the new ways we may hurt or kill ourselves?

Careful, ensign, [ His voice lilts in what's obviously meant as a joke. ] I could have you court-martialed for that.

[ Juuuust kidding. Like Jim would care anyway. ]

Well, he was with me when we found the shuttle, so I think he saw this coming from miles away. And besides, he knows how good a pilot I am. If something does put me in danger, it won't be the fact that I'm in the pilot's seat.

[inlaid]

Then I hope we'll see him on board also. [She grins.] You know, in all this time I don't think I've ever really seen you two in the field together. Should be fun to see this side of both of you, all things considered.

[Then, after a moment:]

Assuming I don't get grounded because of a court-martial first, of course.

We'll have to see how that goes, won't we?

[ He's not serious, that much is abundantly clear. ]

We're not that different, for what it's worth. I mean, we're not going to start making out in the middle of the shuttle or anything— although that's mostly because Leonard's afraid of flying. You can count on the bickering and grumping on his end, though. [ And the daring and crazy ideas coming from Jim. ]

[Bryn laughs a little.]

I wasn't expecting any PDA. More, I was just curious if you two snap into your rank and roles once you're on board or if it's a little more casual than that.

I have to ask, though...how on earth did he get into a profession that involves so much flying if he's afraid of it?

[winscenario]

It's a little more casual, at least with Bones and I. It would be different if my first officer were here. Spock tends to be a lot more strict and formal, and he's more rigid when it comes to rules and chain of command. Which isn't to say I don't appreciate it, of course, it's just... different. Harder to get him to relax, even in more social and casual settings.

[ He smiles a bit at the question, giving a little shrug. ] Because of me, actually. He joined Starfleet with the intent of finding a post on Earth, but I sort of... happened. I wanted to be a starship Captain and he wanted to stay with me. And I wanted him there with me, too, so I guess I just dragged him along.

[inlaid]

Well, it should all be interesting once we're on board. I'm looking forward to it, honestly, considering how well I expect it to go.

[She pauses briefly, stretching her arms above her head with a yawn before lowering them once more.]

But alright, I'm going to grab a quick cat-nap before heading out on errands. Can I stop by tomorrow morning to check out your new baby? Step inside and get a feel for the space?

[winscenario]

[ Jim nods. ] Of course. I'll be around for sure, so drop by anytime you want. I'll be expecting you.

Alright, I'll see you tomorrow then.

[With a little salute, she signs off.]
