[ some of you might have seen this username on the network before. she isn't a stranger to responding to other people's messages, nor to holding private conversation but as for addressing the entire network, well. this is certainly a first time.

peggy carter is in her office in the riverview police force. it's a slow afternoon, which is the only reason for this little message, really. ]

They're really quite attached to their celebrations aren't they. If I have to secure another event, be it a dance ball, a speed dating evening or anything that involves ribbons, glitter, gifts and large, outdoor parties, I fear I may have to file a complaint. Honestly now, this is getting out hand.

[ no one needs this amount of cheer, surely. ]

More importantly, I am searching for someone who might understand a thing or two about what makes these little devices tick.

I want to understand these things a bit better. I know how to operate them well enough by now, but the way they work is a mystery to me. I don't much like being dependent on something I cannot at all understand.

[ call her old fashioned but it is what it is. ]

Well, I mean. I've built them before. Not these, obviously, but ones back home. So I can probably take you through it.

[ she's beginning to suspect he's all capable when technology is concerned. but then again, so was howard. ]

Probably. I'll take the chance. You know where I live, yes?

Not much. [He flicks her a quick, teasing grin. It's an overstatement, maybe, but not by much.]

I don't, technically. I could find it, but you could also just tell me.

I will attach the address. Come visit tonight. Not before nine, I don't reckon I will be able to leave this office before then.

[ well, she could if she weren't such a workaholic. ]

bring something with you. Indian, maybe?

[ yes, you're buying her dinner. ]

[ so official, so formal out here in the open. they're almost colleagues rather than family.

she's smiling, however and her own smiles aren't so easily won, after all.

maybe it's not the perfect facade. ]

I've been known to enjoy them.

[It's overly formal and not particularly likely to fool anyone who knows him into thinking he's not teasing, but he's not really trying. Mostly he's following Peggy's lead. Like usual.]

I've got a friend who can make a curry that will blow your socks off.

Well, as excited as I am to have my socks blown off,

[ dry, dry. ]

I feel like the usual place would do for tonight. Your friend's name, however - ?

[ so maybe she takes an interest in his private life, so what. it's every aunt's right. ]

Bruce. [It's accompanied by a fond smile, if not slightly tinged with something unreadable.] He's not here, though, so no worries about your socks.

[ she knows this smile. by now, she knows when her interventions are needed, subtle or less than. ]

tonight. I want to hear about your friend. and about my comm, for that matter.

Yeah, yeah. Yes ma'am. [Now that's definitely all fondness.] Anything else you want me to pick up while I'm at it?
