[ some of you might have seen this username on the network before. she isn't a stranger to responding to other people's messages, nor to holding private conversation but as for addressing the entire network, well. this is certainly a first time.

peggy carter is in her office in the riverview police force. it's a slow afternoon, which is the only reason for this little message, really. ]

They're really quite attached to their celebrations aren't they. If I have to secure another event, be it a dance ball, a speed dating evening or anything that involves ribbons, glitter, gifts and large, outdoor parties, I fear I may have to file a complaint. Honestly now, this is getting out hand.

[ no one needs this amount of cheer, surely. ]

More importantly, I am searching for someone who might understand a thing or two about what makes these little devices tick.

is it a stage name or one of those odd hero-monikers?

[ The question makes his smile turn a little more genuine, at least, and he offers a shrug. ]

The second one. Sort of.

[ “Sort of,” because as recently as earlier this year, it absolutely an outlaw name, much like “The Sundance Kid” or “Arkansas Tom.”

It never caught on, though, for some frankly baffling reason. ]

I guess these days it’s more like a call sign.

[ her accent wraps around the words, bringing in a flavour of both amusement and doubt. she knows there's a story there and a rather curious one, too. ]

Most heroes I've met are a touch more confident. A humble man?

[ she seems to know it's not quite the case. ]

[ He smothers a smile, lifting his shoulders in another shrug. ]

Oh, I dunno. "Humble?" I'm not sure on that.

[ A beat, then, ]

I mean, someone might use that word to describe me, maybe. But I dunno if I would.

[ In fact, probably no one would. Or should. Ever. ]

Anyway. Do I get to know your name, or is this just a one-way street?

I suppose that now that I know what to call you besides Star Lord -

[ she can spare him a smile and an introduction. ]

Peggy Carter. Good to meet you, Mr. Quill, the not-so-humble.

[ He snorts out a laugh, pressing a hand to his chest. ]

Please. No need to be so formal. Quill works just fine.

But the pleasure’s all mine, Peggy, the party-hater.

Not a hater.

[ surely not. she bites back a smile and shakes her head. ]

I don't object to a party, they simply seem to be in excess here. No time to process one and three others follow.

There's something about that particular phrase in that particular, posh sort of accent that is just. Delightful. And Peter has to bite down on his lower lip to cage in a snort of laughter. ]

I think it's kinda neat.

I mean, I dunno where the hell anyone finds the time to get any work done around here when they're celebrating a new thing every other week, but, hey. I'm basically a tourist, so it works out for me.
