[You can tell from the moment Thor's face appears on camera, he's been through hell and back. His hair is almost entirely buzzed down, save for the tufts on top, with markings shaved into the sides. His eye is covered by a black patch, indicating an injury that he isn't happy to talk about.]

I've made some changes. [Bluntly, as if he consented to any of this.]

What else.. Some things have happened at home that may be of interest to some of you. [He hums, considering.] Odin is dead. I have another sister? Her name is Hela. Mjolnir is destroyed. Banner is alive. [He feels a little guilty revealing that one, but he thinks someone deserves to know.] I fought the Hulk. I won. I met a real, live Valkyrie- And Asgard is.. [A people, not a place, but..] The realm has been destroyed. My people are seeking refuge, I suppose I understand now what displacement feels like.

I have the remains of Asgard in a ship, floating through space. If a portal could open for them, that would be extremely useful to me right now. I'm a king with no land or people, now. Very poetic. [Does he seem terse? He's kind of tense.


And then Loki comes barging in, looking very much the same and carrying a large parchment. He glances at the recording with a frown. He places the map of Earth on the wall, pinning it with a single dagger.]

Must you reveal everything? Put that away, I have work for you.

( well this definitely matches up with the conversation he'd been having with his earth's own loki: another loki, and a mildly different thor, presumably from--what, earth-19999? the stark differences are obvious just from what thor's telling, let alone appearances: hela being thor's sister, (odin has died before but he comes back as far as billy is aware) he hasn't heard of the mjolnir being destroyed, which is concerning, but. and then there's the eyepatch. )

I'm. . I'd ask if you're okay but. ( the answer is a little obvious. ) This place really doesn't like others messing with it's dimensional travel. I can try again.

No, it doesn't seem to care for it, despite how much they meddle themselves. [But he's not bitter.]

If it's any consolation, Asgard as I know it exists as Asgardia. After Ragnarok, you brought it up in Oklahoma. Literally, it floats.

Barnes mentioned something like that, I take it you're from the same Earth. [Thor's smile softens.]

It's an intriguing concept. A floating city- keeps the magic and intrigue of Asgard alive somewhat.

Volstagg shows up in newspapers often enough. I think he really enjoys jumping off those floating islands and attacking robbers and thugs.

[Every smile with Thor is tentative right now, because the mere mention of Volstagg is enough to make him worry.

I know you know me, but I don't think I know you. [He is trying to search his memory.] What's your name?

I'm--more of a fan than anything else, so don't worry about it. ( thor clearly has more important things to worry about. )

Billy Kaplan. Or Wiccan, depending on which crowd you're asking.

I'm not worried, I'm used to it. [He pauses.] People from other worlds, knowing me, I mean. I suppose I'm used to fans, too.

[He chuckles.] What's the alias for?

( considering he’s the god of thunder, well-known even in worlds without superheroes—yeah. there’s a moment where he opens his mouth, considers going on a long spiel about the hundreds of norse books he’s picked up since before the avengers really became a thing, before thor showed up with his hammer on earth. but doesn’t. this really isn’t the time for that. )

Oh, uh—on my Earth, there’s a team called the Young Avengers. ( without going into too much detail, explaining the kang the conqueror thing would take forever, as well as the avengers dissembling, the mess that came with that, everything in between—it doesn’t matter too much here anyway. ) I was recruited a couple years ago when it was formed. Secret identities were kind of important back then.

Young Avengers? [That's a novel concept. Loki has probably mentioned it, and yet.]

Yes, I've come to learn we're at a different stage in my world. I've also heard I'm a bit of an asshole in that world, too. So, you know. [He pulls a face.] Sorry about that.

Yeah. When it started it was Iron Lad, Patriot, Hulkling, and me. I went by Asgardian; we had a theme.

( a sheepish grin, but it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. ) Obviously I’m not an Asgardian, but. --I didn’t know you that well personally. We’ve only met a few times, and usually not in uh--situations that allowed for conversation.

You really are a fan, hmm? What inspired the change?

[Thor shrugs.] I've heard he's not big on conversation.

Asgardian. I was dating Hulkling--our resident Hawkeye figured the media'd have a field day with it.

And my skillset's closer to the Scarlet Witch's than yours.

[ Loki knows this boy vaguely, even though they talked very briefly. But it has been some time since then so he makes no mention of it. ]

I don't think it will either, Loki, but it doesn't mean I can't try.

Certainly, I would not stop you from trying. No doubt it will be a valiant effort.

Because that's totally something that comes up in casual conversation.

"Hey, so, is Hela really your daughter, or was that one of those things that everyone got wrong?"
