[ baby's first network post and it'll be an anonymous text post, because Kaneki's priority is to know just how bad his situation really is without having others freaking out. He has thousands of questions, but none are as important as these: ]
Does anyone know what Ghouls are? Do they exist in your world? Do they exist here?

Ghouls are a species different from humans, but they look like humans. They are predators. [ he is trying not to sound extremely creepy and yet there is no other way to describe it ] They can only eat humans.

I have neither heard of, nor encountered anything like that. The predators I'm accustomed to are of the animal variety and many of them are quite formidable.
[ Some Nemedians may fall into that category in the figurative sense, but that doesn't merit speaking. ]
How formidable are they? You're sure there is nothing else that can sate their appetites?

This is the only way they can live.

[ It sounds like people. That the Ghouls themselves have tried to find alternatives says something about them despite their predator status in her mind. What makes this less of a black and white issue for her is the simple fact that they look like people and live among them, that they'd be part of clans, that they might be family. If a Ghoul is one of your own, how do you reconcile that? Most importantly, how do they, if they care? Oh, and that she and no one she knows has been sized up for a meal also helps a fair bit. ]
If they can be honest friends and family and care for the well-being of the people they live among, then theirs must be a troubled existence. I do not know how my clan would handle the matter, nor am I entirely sure how this place would, being new here myself.
Why do you ask, stranger? Are you concerned there may be Ghouls here?

But you also get ghouls who really love to do that. Case in point: Kaneki's crush. She sure took a bite out of him. Literally. ]
They can be. Some. They aren't just monsters, not all of them.
And yes, I am. It's normal that I am, I think. [ he wants ghouls here, and at the same time he doesn't. Being Kaneki is difficult ]

[ In regard to his being worried. His clarification makes her wonder what sort of past he might have involving Ghouls. He isn't painting them with a broad brush. Most people tend to when they're afraid. She knows that firsthand. ]
If that is the way of things and there are Ghouls who regard people as nothing more than prey, I would speak to the Perimeter Guard. Perhaps they could put you in touch with someone who might be able to figure an alternative for those who would do people no harm.
Is there any way to tell Ghouls apart?
no subject
Not unless they want you to see it. And when you do, it's not good. [ whenever he saw a ghoul's eyes or claw, it was because he was going to get hurt, so you REALLY don't want to see that. ]
no subject
[ Not good, huh? Any normal person might consider the danger and think it best avoided. Lí hears them and ponders the challenge. ]
I'll bear that in mind. If they were to want you to see, what would one expect? Besides what I would assume is a keen hunger.

A ghoul has kakugan - their eyes turn black when they are hungry. And they also have another organ, the kagune, that they can pull out of their back whenever they want. They are also stronger than humans, and I don't think there is much that can peirce their skin.
no subject
Do they use this organ to attack? And how strong are humans, anyway?
[ She's heard the term used often enough since arrival to get the idea of what a human is, but she isn't so sure her people and humans are one and the same. The humans she's seen are shorter than Nemedians, for one, and they seem to eat a lot less despite a host of visual similarities. There could be other differences, but given she hasn't had to fight one, she really isn't sure. ]

And I'm not sure I know how to describe how strong a human is. There are a lot of animals that are do - some dogs, even. But very few things can cut through a ghoul's skin, for example.
But yes, they use their kagune as a predatory organ.

[ And not necessarily a good something, depending on how one wants to look at it. She can think of some people she'd rather not bump into here or anywhere, really, and just imagine if an Etan arrived from a time before she and Vafþrúðnir convinced their fathers to set their differences aside, not... that she's sure an Etan could fit through the portal. ]
I'll figure it out. What you've shared is helpful enough. With any luck, I won't have to use that knowledge.
[ Then again, it does sound like it could be quite the battle. ]

[ That's how she'd handle it, anyway. ]
