I wonder that sometimes too.

It would be nice if...you could. I think there's always a way to escape it, even if it might seem impossible to do so. Destiny is something that you create by your own choices in life. So I don't think any person's destiny is really predetermined.

how can you know that your choices are really your own, and not overly influenced by what happened to you? how can you know that you're really yourself, and not what someone else has made you to be?

I guess for me it's easy because I know if the dark god has control over me...we would all act a lot different. It does happen though and it's scary to think about. But I guess there's no real way of knowing unless it's obvious like a possession.

You have thoughts and feelings on things, right? So doesn't that mean you're using your own feelings and judgments on things? It's true that you might get influenced by outside elements but the way you feel and convey your own feelings is no one's choice but your own.

[ Ah. Well...it's a bit hard to explain. ]

He cursed my...ancestors and many other families as well. Because a group of people fought against him in the war so our punishment is our powers. A small part of him still remains tethered to all phrobiests and when our gates go haywire from stress or over use his influence over us gets strong and he can sometimes...control us.

[ It's scary to think about and to really talk about, give Shigeru's past experiences with it happening to him. ]
