Of course they can. It doesn't matter how you're born. What matters is what you end up becoming.

(It's a little hypocritical coming from Noctis and the role he was born to play, but he fully believes it for everyone else.)

I wonder that sometimes too.

It would be nice if...you could. I think there's always a way to escape it, even if it might seem impossible to do so. Destiny is something that you create by your own choices in life. So I don't think any person's destiny is really predetermined.

how can you know that your choices are really your own, and not overly influenced by what happened to you? how can you know that you're really yourself, and not what someone else has made you to be?

I like to think so. But even if you do escape it, it's always going to stay with you. It makes up who you are.

I guess it's a matter of coming to terms with yourself even if that's not as easy as it sounds. Or helpful advice at all.

I don't think there's any one answer that covers all circumstances, but in my case I've found that there are things you can't outrun.

sometimes it's choices made for you. things you learned that were wrong, people who try to trap you. knives in the dark. webs of intention that you can neither see nor fathom.

Destiny is a concept that is commonly attributed to events after they occur.

To possess as 'destiny' in the terms you are using is more akin to prophecy or divination. Both concepts are also viewed as being true only after the fact. Events may occur similar to the predictions but not all variables are set thus, the predicted outcome may not happen.


Whoever this was they seemed to be ignoring the entire issue of the circumstances of one birth mattering or viewing it as utterly inconsequential.

I think that depends on what you mean by escaping the circumstances of your birth.

I believe destiny is more fluid than what people want us to believe.

one involves the education you were raised with

the other involves literally escaping people you knew as a child

your past is always gonna follow you around.
people think you can get better than your past, or at least find a place where no one knows or cares about it.
but the scars are still there and everyone can see those and mock them.

point being, you're not gonna escape your destiny. only choice you've got is deciding how much that matters to you.

Yes and yes.

Some people may make it hard for you to get away from where you came from but it's possible. You just need to keep looking forward. And the only "destiny" there is, are the choices you make for yourself. You can control those choices, make your own calls.

I don't know for sure, but I don't think we're victims of destiny unless we give up. If you keep fighting for the life you want, there is a higher probability you will be successful.
