So here is a question: How would someone know that they like someone? Not just as a friend, but as more.

I've dated before, but this... this is different than that.

Then you've found your answer, ser.

I do. I've never felt anything like it for a man before. But then, he's not like any man I've ever met, either.

( He's all valour and kindness, honest and good. And absolutely precious beyond measure to her. )

Do you intend to express your feelings to this person?

Thank you, I already am. Far more than I would have dreamed I might be.

( Which is to say, she'd expected no happiness at all; just a loveless political match. )

If they've shown an interest, you should.

I have. In fact, you're speaking with him, above: Jon Snow. He's so unlike anyone I've ever met that it was easy to grow fond of him and more.

( Though she hadn't realized it for months. )

But that's not always the same as indicating interest; have they said anything at all to you?

At first, it was his single-minded dedication to help his people, who he put before himself. I respected it; then his honesty, which you must understand: I'd only met one other honest man in my life, and he was more like a father to me. It was rare. But it was before his interest had been pointed out to me, before I'd realized just how deeply I felt.

He wanted to leave, to do something which would surely result in him being lost to me. The thought of that struck me, and we looked at each other for a long time. I couldn't, didn't want to imagine my life without him. And I still don't.
