[Maybe Freya is bored and testing strange things at her new job with Prometheus... and who says a mechanical engineer can't have hobbies outside of her field and use work resources to test said hobbies.]
Interesting Fact:
Dry air is primarily made up of nitrogen (78.09%) and oxygen (20.95%). The remaining 1% is made up of argon (0.93%), carbon dioxide (0.039% ) and other trace gases (0.003%). Water vapor (water in its gaseous state) is also present in the atmosphere in varying amounts, by up to 2%.
This is my Earth as of 2010.
So here is my question; What is the air in quarantine made of?
[About ten minutes later another text goes out.]
Maybe someone, not me, should try and figure this out. On the plus side, I found out that exploding things at my new job is not grounds for being fired! I also started a new project that I have named Prometheus.
He will be a robot that helps clean up the streets with a cute friendly tune. You'll see prototypes on the streets in about a month. If you see him, please fill out one of the surveys that are on his back and insert them into his mouth. If you hurt him, I will find you.
He's going to be like Wall-e so if you hurt him I consider you a monster of epic douche-baggery.

the air has the same chemical composition.
it's the same as my world
and the Earth of 1923
Which is a little strange, since we're supposed to be quarantined.
But a lot of strange things happen here.

You a chemist?

but my brother has, so I'd have to ask him.
No, but close. I'm an alchemist.

And yes, it is currently just for surveys. It may or may not be used to compose trash at a later date. I'm looking into the available chemicals and byproducts here before I can confirm or deny the details of it's mouth.

can you sing along with the song? you should add the lyrics to the back of the survey. karaoke trashbot.

not that it probably matters.
anyway why does it matter? you can still breathe, right?

The carbon dioxide in the air has doubled in the last twenty years. In the year 1990 it was closer to 0.018% and no one is taking carbon emissions seriously since the damaging affect to the Earth is so slow.
no subject
haven't been keeping track of the exact percentage of the air like that, so who knows.

Fun fact: hover technology isn't actually new but it isn't cost effective which was why it's never been mass produced.

YOU MEAN
HOVER BOARDS COULD EXIST
AND WE'RE JUST TOO MUCH OF CHEAPASSES TO MAKE THEM
i've never been more disappointed in humanity than I am right now

like, is it necessary to know for the sake of the robot? is it helping to clean the air or something?

The point of mentioning air was to make sure that this world wasn't going to become more of an apocalyptic shit-hole while I'm living here. I don't always care but when I live someplace, it kind of concerns me.
That cleanliness lead me into the idea of making Prometheus.
no subject
oh, course they fucking were. that's why i had to ask for clarification at all, because you were so clear in your first message
and besides, the world's already an apocalyptic shit-hole regardless of whether or not the air's any good for breathing. if this is the highest thing on your list of concerns maybe you could, like, go outside and do some fucking field research. not that hard
and are you gonna explain prometheus or what

1) What purpose does knowing the composition of air serve?
2) What constitutes the difference between "dry" air and "wet" if such a thing exists?
no subject
1) If the composition of air is altered too much by chemicals or other byproducts we won't be able to breathe and we'll all die. So I figure I'd look into airs composition here since the people who used to live here were kind of dumb.
2) Oh! Dry air is without factoring in humidity. Humidity is the amount of water vapor present in the air. Water vapor is the gaseous state of water and is invisible to the human eye. Humidity indicates the likelihood of precipitation, dew, or fog and can greatly alter our perception of temperature. It also adds different elements to air at different concentrations. Dry air, in this context, is a fixed variable when measuring the concentration of elements in air.
