[ On camera, Tear can be seen sitting against her bed with the lens from a distance, as if she's asking a question. She's not sure about the etiquette of face-to-face communication, so she looks... too serious. Laughably too serious to be coming on here and sitting with you like she's about to divorce you or is in a face to face interview. ]

Hello. My name is Tear Grants. If anyone should recognize it-- contact me.

[ It almost sounds like she's going to beat the hell out of whoever does. ]

I'm new here. I was in the hospital for a little while and I've been cured of-- an illness. Anyway, I've been assigned to Search and Rescue. I'm... in a communal dorm it seems.

I'm aware of the responsibility of one to take care of their own information-gathering, however--

[ Immediately she sits up when she hears a bark outside the window. Rushing over to the side, past her roommate's empty bed, she opens the curtains and sees a dog from the festival walking down the road in an adorable costume. ]

Oh my gosh....

[ She's forgotten the camera doesn't turn off by itself when you leave it alone, it seems. ]

[Even if he's significantly quieter about it (as he is about most things) than his brothers, Ichimatsu has decidedly noticed Tear's rather sizeable.. assets, and it's pulling his shoulders taught like the string of a bow. He hides it well enough by focusing on the kitten chewing on his fingers-- the black one --and keeping his eyes trained at her knees and nothing else. If he were Karamatsu, he'd have scared her off already talking about something or another, but he mostly noticed what was immediately obvious (her chest, naturally, but maybe less expectedly, that her hair looked very soft) in a delayed way that made continuing the conversation with any degree of grace difficult.]

Ah, mmn, sure, I...'m not sure why you'd want to know, and there isn't much to tell, but... I'm guessing Osomatsu at least mentioned we're sextuplets.

[ oh my god ichimatsu why... ]

I'm sure there's plenty to tell-- after all, just being sextuplets doesn't mean you're all identical. You're already very different from Osomatsu. [ a smile ]

And you're an animal lover. What else?

[Another odd, gurgling snort of a sound in the back of his throat and he ducks forward toward the kitten slightly. He almost scoots sideways and actually bashes his head on the ground out of reflex, but it's mostly because he's afraid he'd hurt the kitten that he doesn't more than any actual social grace that Tear would be fucking startled.]

Visually, for the most part, we are. I'm quiet and don't like people much, Osomatsu likes people too much, but not as much as beer... I guess I like plants pretty well, too? I'm building a greenhouse on our roof.

[ god DAMN ichimatsu it's okay we're conversing everything will be fine. She otherwise doesn't take much notice of his lack of social grace, after all-- Tear prefers her privacy too. Gingerly, she picks up a kitten and is absolutely downright marveled that she's holding one. You can see it right on her face. ]

That makes two of us. The quiet part, I mean. And gardening is a good hobby to have-- we're supposed to be building, aren't we?

[ baby cat baby cat baby cat tho, she nearly peeps when it rolls over in her hand and exposes its tummy. ]

I'm a soldier, so I didn't even have time for hobbies... aside from singing, I suppose.

[Nothing is ever fine, you're a pretty girl and you're talking to him, nothing is fine. He looks up at her when she marvels over the kitten and fucking RIP, she's really cute. He doesn't look at her very long, averting his eyes again and carefully sitting up, scooping his own kitten. The third one can't seem to decide which one of them he wants to climb on, scooting toward Ichimatsu and then toward Tear and back in indecision.]

[His expression falters from its deadpan for a moment and he looks up at her, frowning and tilting his head.]

...you're a solider? [What is it with him and befriending military folks.]

[RIP again, she sings. A part of him wants to ask to hear, but he would probably never actually manage the sentence. Not for a long time, at least.]

Locrian Sergeant Tear Grants, at your service. Though admittedly, the military I serve under and I don't see each other eye to eye...

[ Tear feels like she might faint, so she lets the kitten go to play with its sibling. They're both totally overwhelmed at this point. Now Tear will constantly be thinking about how cute kittens are to hold... she's never held one before, just a cat or two. ]

Things were going down south back there. That must have been when I... wished to be somewhere else? Is that what they call it?

[He mouths "Locrian Sergeant Tear Grants" a few times, as though sounding out the words a few times before speaking them.]

Locrian Sergeant. I'm no military expert, but I've never heard of... isn't Locrian a musical term? [That would explain the singing. Military singing? What a combination.]

[He frowns, nodding after a moment's thought.] Something about feeling misplaced, I guess.

I'm a Seventh Fonist. ... The Seventh Fonon is like an molecule made of sound. I'm able to channel it, thus my title. It's not common.

[ Hence her magic singing bringing healing. ]

... if there was ever a time to feel misplaced, I suppose an entire town sinking beneath the earth is a good time.

Seventh Fo... [Color him really mcfucking confused.] Huh. Sounds complicated.

[A beat, and he blinks slowly.]

...way more intense than my reasoning, but sounds like your life as a whole is a lot more intense. [He clears his throat, scooping one of the kittens as it starts to wander a bit farther than he'd like.] You wanna see the other animals?

[mystearious]

I would love to.

[ NICE, avoided that mess real quick. Explaining Akzeriuth is a mess... especially since it'd be so soon after the fact. She lingers near the kittens before following him... ]

Do you get frequent adopters?

[nyahilistic]

[He scoops all three kittens easily and puts one into the pocket of his parka, keeping the other two in his hands and letting them climb up his arms like he's accustomed to being a feline jungle gym, and moves her into the shelter proper.]

Mmn, I wouldn't say frequent, but it's not exactly infrequent, either. Steady, maybe, is the word.

[ Being here is like being free... would her roommates mind a pet? Would she? She's never cared for an animal before... ]

So you have to say goodbye to them a lot?

[ :( ]

[He tilts his head.]

...well, none of them are really mine, except the kittens and Nyanko, I guess. I just care for them.

Ah... I guess that's why I couldn't manage this job. I'd think of all of them as my own.

[nyahilistic]

[He chuffs a sardonic laugh, letting his eyes roll partway back into his skull, though not at Tear.]

've you ever heard the term NEET, Tear? --ah, is it okay if I call you Tear?

[ ... NEET? Like, 'neat'? Different terminology for different places, she supposes. ]

Tear's fine... and no, I haven't. What does it mean?

"No Education, Employment, or Training". Basically a bum.

[He sets the kittens in his hands down on a cat tree, scooping the other out of his pocket and putting it with its siblings, and then turning to face her.]

Not so much anymore, but we all used to be NEETs. So I could never really consider all the strays I fed and looked after "mine". So I'm not really used to the ownership of an animal, truthfully.

... This is a good job to take. To be honest, I'm envious. In a place like this, no one would think to take care of the wellbeing of animals when they're probably thinking of ways to get back home or their own survival.

[ A beat, though she still has a reasonably stoic face. ]

You must be a very kind person.

[nyahilistic]

[He tilts his head in a vague sort of nod, agreeing all up until she decides the previous statements mean he's a kind person. At that point, his entire everything tenses and he draws his shoulders up, hunching further into them like a turtle (again), and shies from her in an anxious coil.]

Mmmmn, I wouldn't go that far, and I was assigned the job when I arrived. What class of animal do you wanna see first...? [Change the subject, nope aggressively out the window.]

[ Immediately, Tear is hit with the sense that if someone called her a kind person she'd kind of turtle up too, because there's No Kindness In War and it's an awkward compliment to accept.

Nonetheless, she means it. ]

Class? ... any, to be honest. Small ones?

[nyahilistic]

[Oh thank God she took the topic change. He relaxes, if only slightly, and shuffles toward a door that leads to a hallway.]

"Small" works. Animals here are ...well, I guess different from where I'm from, for the most part, but I'm not sure if they're Quarantine native or not. Preference between mammals, amphibians or reptiles?

They're all cute...

... reptiles, first. [ That way they can work their way up to mammals. ]

[He pauses and gives her a funny look, but doesn't tease-- he doesn't know her well enough to. He nods, and branches off down another hallway once they're through the first door. The shelter isn't terribly big, as a whole, but it's ample enough to house a bit of most of Quarantine's more common animals.]

[The reptile area is small, and connected to the amphibians, so it won't take them long to get through.]

I... don't actually know a whole lot about the animals, here. Some of them have been designated with names, but a lot of them we just make educated guesses about. A lot of the lizards are pretty friendly, if you wanna hold one.

[ Tear is more tentative in this room, cautious-- what would he think of her if he knew she slew monsters on the regular? But she does eventually let a small snake crawl up her glove and wiggle its way back down into the tank.

It's pouty mouth is really cute. ♥

These lizards, too... so cute!! She kind of looks from tank to tank before nodding to continue. ]
