Okay, so this is amazing. I have a room with a bed — and I'm not entirely sure what they expect me to do with that. Also my own chair! It's a sweet deal.

[ Seriously. A chair. His own space. Let the android have his moment okay. ]

Unfortunately, I don't think my charging station came with me on the trip here. Does anyone know anyone technically minded or with a large amount of appliances and scrap? I kind of need it so I don't run out of power. Low charges are hellish.

I can pay you? I think I get wages now. Amazing.

What do you normally do?

Build things, generally. Energy sources are the big project at the moment, but I've got a couple other random things going on.

[sentiences]

"Build things" can be anything from LEGOs to construction work.

Hey, I've seen some pretty badass LEGO work. And I have done both. But mostly, I'm an engineer.

[sentiences]

Even here?

[buildsomething]

Sure. The joy of engineering is that you can do it pretty much anywhere.

[Okay, so you do at least need supplies handy. But Tony is nothing if not resourceful.]

[sentiences]

Really? So you don't need space, materials, a lot of time . . .

[buildsomething]

Well okay, if you're gonna get technical.

[Tony gives him a look, but there's amusement under it. Somehow even the robots he didn't build are smartasses at him.]

Luckily, I do in fact have all these things. It is actually my job here, even.

[sentiences]

[ Dorian is a closeted smart-ass, but it pops up from time to time. ]

Is it really that busy here? I got the impression things were mostly quiet.

[buildsomething]

Depends on your definition, I guess.

[And Tony is the kind of guy who would much rather be busy than not, so he can find ways to amuse himself. Or invent them, if he can't.]

There's the occasional rampaging creepy-crawly, like those beetles. And there's an entire abandoned city out there that people are sort of trying to reclaim. So there's plenty of work to be done.

[sentiences]

[ His expression slips a little. ]

But not much call for cops, I take it.

[buildsomething]

Well, I mean. Any city-sized collection of people is going to need some kind of group to keep order. If someone gave you the job, they clearly think there's a reason for it.

[sentiences]

Yeah. At least I hope so.

[ Dorian isn't sure what he'd do if his job felt obsolete. Life is finite for him. Measured to how useful he can be. ]

[buildsomething]

[It's a strange situation of finding yourself wanting to reassure someone that people will probably be terrible no matter where they are. Tony's life is weird.]

If nothing else, you look very impressive.

[When all else fails, go for humor.]

[ Dorian cracks a smile, bright teeth. ]

[That does raise a lot of questions about his design, actually, but Tony figures that's the kind of thing he can ask somewhere down the line. He has some manners not to just interrogate the poor guy right off.]
