[ The video pans across one of the communal rooms before centering on Dorian. He looks overwhelmed and thrilled at the same time. ]

Okay, so this is amazing. I have a room with a bed — and I'm not entirely sure what they expect me to do with that. Also my own chair! It's a sweet deal.

[ Seriously. A chair. His own space. Let the android have his moment okay. ]

Unfortunately, I don't think my charging station came with me on the trip here. Does anyone know anyone technically minded or with a large amount of appliances and scrap? I kind of need it so I don't run out of power. Low charges are hellish.

I can pay you? I think I get wages now. Amazing.

[ His expression softens. Dorian can't say he belongs anywhere. Not really. ]

I'm sure he knows that.

[dancingmd]

I hope so. I know he'd do the same for us. Has done the same.

[sentiences]

It is a good feeling to carry around.

[dancingmd]

It is. [Her smile turns sad. That all too familiar feeling of homesickness is threatening to well up again. Time to tamp it down.]

So what is your power source anyway?

[sentiences]

I'm not entirely sure. Some of my schematics are known to me, but I don't have all the details. Enough to do some minor repairs, that's all.

[dancingmd]

[Hmm. That's certainly different from Dtat. Why wouldn't they give Dorian the knowledge - but then, his creators don't seem to be as emotionally attached as Dr. Soong was to his creations, his family.]

Perhaps my tricorder can help. It's a scanning device that should be able to decipher your composition no build. If you're comfortable with that, that is.

[sentiences]

[ Hmm. ]

It's fine with me.

[dancingmd]

Where would you like to meet then?

[sentiences]

Anywhere. I do not have a preference on location.

[dancingmd]

Oh! I know...we ought to go to the holodeck! I can merge the scans won the computer there and create a life size model, so you can study it.

[sentiences]

A holodeck?

[dancingmd]

Technology from home... an immersive virtual reality system, if you will.

[sentiences]

[ Virtual systems. Dorian is passingly familiar. The side of his face glows as he taps into the network, gathering the information he needs. ]

I have the details now. It sounds like a good place to start.

[dancingmd]

Excellent! I will meet you there in.... twenty minutes?

[sentiences]

I will be there.

[ And Dorian does arrive promptly, his hands in his jacket as he takes the sights in. ]

[dancingmd]

[For now, there's not much to see - just a black room with yellow grid lines. And Beverly of course, with her tricorder. She sticks out a hand for Dorian to shake.]

Pleasure to meet you in person!

[sentiences]

[ Dorian smiles, holding his hand out. ]

Likewise, Dr. Crusher.

[dancingmd]

Well! Let's get started shall we? It shouldn't take too much time... if you could just stand still for a moment, I'll start scanning.

[She takes out her tricorder and fiddles with it a bit, getting it to the right settings.]

[ Dorian watches the tricorder with bright eyes. ]

Would that device really be able to pick up my entire schematic?

[dancingmd]

Easily - unless there happen to be any elements it can't identify but... you are from Earth still, aren't you?

[sentiences]

I am. We've never known anything else.

[ No extraterrestrial plotlines here. ]

[dancingmd]

Then it shouldn't be a problem - the tricorder is more than familiar with all Earth substances.

Ready to begin?

[sentiences]

[ For a moment, Dorian feels an inkling of trepidation. ]

Go ahead.

[dancingmd]

[There's barely time for trepidation to settle in - a few swipes up and down his body and the scan is completed, almost as quickly as it started.]

All done! Now we just need to upload it into the holodeck computers...

[She bites on her lower lip thoughtfully as she makes the transfer, connecting her tricorder to a control panel near the door to the deck. A few taps here, a spoken command there, and -]

There! That should do it. Computer! [The computer chirps in response.] Display program Dorian Alpha-One.

[A moment later, another Dorian appears, this one holographic and without personality or thought. It stands motionless in the center of the room. If Dorian is to approach it, there will be no reaction. He can, however, physically manipulate the figure, if he feels inclined to do so.]

[sentiences]

[ Dorian has seen plenty of holograms before, so he's not particularly surprised or astonished. It was nice, actually, having that little bit of familiarity. ]

Has it picked up anything strange?
