hey, everyone

I'm thinking of going outside the walls for a bit of a look around. Anyone interested in going out? Fair warning, it could get hairy, as we don't always know what to expect out there. I'm trained in combat, could always do with good navigators, maybe someone who knows a bit more about the lay of the land, too, but everyone's welcome to join.

I know I'm not the only one wondering about what's out there.



And, completely unrelated... I just moved out of the communal housing and would like to build some furniture for our new place. Simple stuff - shelves, to start with - but I don't have much experience in this. Anyone willing to lend a hand?
Alternatively, if you have any old stuff you'd like to get rid of, I might be interested.

( Actually, she didn't mean it as an innuendo but she's for sure leaving it looking like one. )

it's about time i got the lay of the land outside the wall anyway. we never know when we might need to move fast.

there's this guy, wally, that's offering to take you around some places as well, which might come in handy. He's a speedster, so he could get you anywhere in seconds

( Let's hope she has a stomach of iron, if she's going to be sped around the place. )

that's not such a bad idea.

( She's a little worried about using her power here, if she's honest with herself. Deliveries are fine, but she has a habit of freezing when they need her the most. She still blames herself for what happened to Sonya. )

you think it's likely we'll run into trouble?

honestly, i don't know. we might, seems like there's some wild beasts out there and all.

you worried?

no.

( And then he gets the . . . of her typing and deleting another reply. She's trying to get better at being honest. Especially with him. )

maybe? my rescue track record hasn't been stellar, recently.

you can't - clarice.

[ There's a pause, because they both know who she's referring to. This is a discussion for them to have face to face. ]

i don't think we'll even need to use your portals, if all goes well. and most volunteers are well trained.

we can talk about it, later. when we're home.

( Her first instinct is to say no. No, she doesn't want to talk about it. No, she's fine. Because Clarice doesn't want to talk about her failures. She doesn't want to have to pick them apart in the cold light of day. She doesn't want John to be disappointed.

For a moment it's all she can think about.

But then she remembers to breathe, to keep her head. John isn't the kind of person to blame her, he knows her powers have limitations. He knows she didn't do it on purpose. And if she's worried then he's pretty much the only person who can help her. So she should let him. )

i'll bring home dinner after my last delivery. what're you feeling?

[ If only she knew just as much he thinks he is the responsible one, not Clarice. Clarice has no guilt to feel about Sonya's death.

His first instinct, at the question, is to reply you. He pushes it down, though.]
