[ The video starts with one of Jim's usual smiles. For those who recognize the location, he's sitting at his desk at the Perimeter Guard. ]

So, after some rocky couple of months, it looks like we're settling in for a quieter month. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not complaining. Everyone should take the opportunity to relax a little and have some fun, but please be careful. Keep in mind that things can stop being peaceful and safe pretty fast.

Building on that thought, I'd like to reinforce we are always accepting new members at the Perimeter Guard. Can't have too many of us. Also, if you can pilot ships, shuttles or airplanes, I'm always looking for more members for the aerial unit, more specifically.

If anyone's curiosity is piqued, feel free to drop by and ask for Captain James T. Kirk. I'll be happy to show you around.

[ And he leans in as though he's turning off the camera...

She's not wrong, then. [ If she's having fun then literally no one ever can judge her. Jim will fight for her right to party. ]

Just the dancing. I could probably teach you a few piloting moves. Ass. [ Said lovingly. ]

Unlike you, I don't need a whole crew to help me fly a ship. [ayyyy.] That is what I meant. If one of the dances I know is what you are after.

[ Jim snorts and lets out a laugh at that comment. ]

Oh, you wouldn't even know what to do with a ship as big as mine. [ Yep that's a size joke and filled with innuendo because he's an asshole like that sometimes. :) ] Teach me as many as you can. I wanna know them all, if nothing else then for curiosity's sake.

[evasives]

[really, jim? really????? he gets a flat look.] I know how to destroy it. [so there.]

I can show you a few, to start. It's a nice gesture. [for victor, he means.]

[ He's mature, shut up. ] You wouldn't dare. [ Calling your bluff Cassian!! How dare you make a threat like that. ]

Just wanted to surprise him in a different way. And he likes dancing, so. [ He shrugs. ]

I was a saboteur, Jim. [is it really a bluff tho :) ]

It was a compliment. I can take it back, unless you want me to explain it. [you're thoughtful jim, shut up.]

I don't care. You wouldn't do that to me. [ Don't disappoint him Cassian, he won't know how to deal with the heartbreak. ]

No, there's no need. [ He smiles. ] Thank you. I mean... it's easy to want to do nice things for the person you love. You get that, right?

[evasives]

But I could. [which is the point!]

[what. there is a stretch of silence that follows because what. he has only told himself he loves jyn, no one else. not even her. if he admits he tries to do nice things for jyn, it's as good as admitting to jim he loves her and he can't possibly tell someone else that first. divert divert divert.] What, like learn to dance?

[winscenario]

There are a lot of things that I could do too, but wouldn't. [ The capacity for it is not the point!

And chill, Cassian, there's no need to panic. Jim's just very observant, and good at reading people. Cassian doesn't need to tell him how he feels, he can see it clearly. Just like he can see Jyn's own feelings for her Captain. Doesn't mean he's going to butt in tell on each other. It's not his place. When they're ready for it, then they'll work it out. ]

Among other things, yes. There's plenty I'd do for Victor.

[evasives]

I don't know what I would not do until the moment. [true! and more ominous than necessary.]

[hahahaha cassian andor with chill. especially when it comes to jyn. that's hilarious, jim kirk.]

[he still can't bring up jyn though, because he refuses to even imply any sort of love aloud to jim yet.] Like what? Preferably without gritty details.

[ Absolutely. No messing with his ship, dude. Not that he'll ever get to even set foot on it, but still. ]

I don't know... Learn to dance or cook for him, for instance. Do whatever it takes to make him happy, and to keep him safe.

[ He'd kill, or sacrifice himself— definitely. Maybe he'd even leave Starfleet. The thought comes at him a little too suddenly, and he swallows around it, shrugging. ]

It's an expression. But yeah, I'd do most everything for him.

[evasives]

[doing most anything for them is honestly hashtag relatable. he was already breaking so many rules and safety precautions within days of meeting jyn. there's very little he wouldn't do now, and he already quite literally died for her.]

What is it with half the people I know and their inability to cook? [it is simultaneously a genuine question and another diversion, the cassian andor life.]

As long as you are happy. [which jim clearly is.]

[winscenario]

[ Jim laughs, shrugging a bit at that accusation of sorts. ]

Hey, at least I have a good excuse! We had replicators back home, and used them for pretty much everything, food included. And I never had anyone to teach me how to even boil an egg.

[ He knows how to do it now, for the record. He's learning! ]

I am. [ He nods. ] We are— we both are.

[evasives]

The Rebellion collected rations, many of which could be quickly heated, but I learned to cook all kinds of things as a child. [when rations were more like hey what can you steal from the streets!] It has been a long time, but there is plenty of food to cook here. You have no excuse now.

[he sighs a little, but it's more of a pleased sound.] Good.

[winscenario]

Hey, I wasn't trying to find an excuse. I'm learning. It's just hard when you've never been anywhere near a kitchen for most of your life.

[ But yeah, he wants to learn now. He just... still sucks at it. His problem was he wanted to jump straight into full meals, though. He's learned that it's best to start small for now. He can cook an egg in different ways, boil pasta, and he can manage more basic stir frying mixes. Small victories. ]

[evasives]

Sometimes a kitchen is just a boiling pot of water over a fire. I know how to make a lot of stews.

[he is mostly teasing jim, because it's not like inability to cook is a sign of anything. some people live off rations, some live off scraps, some are wealthy enough to have people cook for them, which is the Worst clearly.]

They are pretty easy, if you want to learn them too.

[winscenario]

[ Well, a replicator is a lot like rations, really. Granted, rations that he can shape into anything he wants, flavor and all, but the basic principle is the same. Point is, he's never needed to cook a thing in his life. Not because he's wealthy or anything (that's not even a thing where he comes from anymore), but simply because replicators have become very common just about anywhere. Even in the middle of nowhere, Iowa. ]

Are you offering to teach me? [ Apparently he'll take anything that Cassian's willing to teach him. ]

[evasives]

It can cook while you learn to dance.

[two birds one stone etc!! or whatever the space equivalent is. two porgs with one stone?]

[besides it's literally the least he can do for all jim's help with Emotions.]

I believe I said if you want. That's how an offer works.

[winscenario]

[ Dude stop killing the porgs. Lucy has one as a pet and she's gonna be traumatized one of these days.

Also stop killing birds too while you're at it. ]

Okay— yeah, sure. But I don't want you to do it out of some sense of obligation or something dumb like that. I mean, I will pay you, but still.

[evasives]

[they are everywhere! they're like space chickens, it's fine!! haven't you ever had to kill your own food before jim?]

It is not an obligation. I don't have to do anything I don't want to here.

[winscenario]

[ Um, actually??? NO. ]

I know you don't. Just wanted to be sure. [ He smiles at Cassian. Don't worry, he won't force you to admit to feelings. ] I'd like that very much, in that case.

[ he can teach you that too jim!! :) ]

[ok good cool, no feelings are happening.]

After we come back from that mission? We should have some free time then. Would that work for you?
