[ The video starts with one of Jim's usual smiles. For those who recognize the location, he's sitting at his desk at the Perimeter Guard. ]

So, after some rocky couple of months, it looks like we're settling in for a quieter month. I don't know about you, but I'm definitely not complaining. Everyone should take the opportunity to relax a little and have some fun, but please be careful. Keep in mind that things can stop being peaceful and safe pretty fast.

Building on that thought, I'd like to reinforce we are always accepting new members at the Perimeter Guard. Can't have too many of us. Also, if you can pilot ships, shuttles or airplanes, I'm always looking for more members for the aerial unit, more specifically.

If anyone's curiosity is piqued, feel free to drop by and ask for Captain James T. Kirk. I'll be happy to show you around.

[ And he leans in as though he's turning off the camera...

I take it the perimeter guard keep watch over the wilderness beyond the city?[Yeah, Thor's interested.]

It depends on the branch of the Perimeter Guard, but yes, we do. My unit focuses mainly on aerial survey and exploration, though we also work with other branches of the Guard when they need aerial support for whatever reason— transport, rescue, so on.

[That appeals to Thor, and he finds himself smiling-] Then consider the services of Thor, god of thunder, on offer to you, Captain James T. Kirk.

That's brilliant. [ He smiles wide. He won't lie, having a god helping out is always a definite plus. ] You can call me Jim, by the way.

You do kinda look like the other Thor, but not... exactly. [ As in, he doesn't look as much like his dad. That's kind of a relief. ]

[ofmyth]

Of course, Jim. [Except that he will absolutely call him Captain James T. Kirk many, many more times. Thor has a thing for full names and titles.]

Aye. I've yet to take the time to see how exactly our pasts differ, but we seem to be cut from similar cloth. [Multiple worlds aren't at all a new idea to Thor, so he's quite at home with the idea that there'd be differences between them.] Have you your own double here?

[ That's such a mouthful, man. But Jim will definitely call him 'O Mighty Thor, God of Thunder' each time he goes with his full name and rank, just to tease him. ]

No. I mean, not another James T. Kirk, though— I do know of at least a couple that exist in other universes. But I have had two doppelgängers show up here before. We could've been twins.

Curious. [And Thor does genuinely seem fascinated by that.] They did not share a name with you? Or an occupation?

[winscenario]

It was kinda strange, but... well, I'm used to weird. [ He learned to just roll with it. Especially in a place like this. ]

No, not really. I mean— one of them was a captain, but not the same kind of captain. And he was from around 350 years before my time.

[ofmyth]

I'll keep an eye out for any doppelgangers of my own. [Hopefully any he runs into will be less homicidal than others he's run into in the past.

But anyway-] You said that interested parties could come by the perimeter guard to be shown around. When would be suitable for you?

[winscenario]

I'm not terribly busy right now, if you have the time. If that doesn't work for you, then tomorrow afternoon should be alright.

[ofmyth]

I am not otherwise engaged. Name the place and I'll be there presently.

[winscenario]

Come by the guard, then. Just ask for me and someone will direct you to the shuttle bay. I'll be waiting.

[ofmyth]

Then I'll see you soon, Captain James T. Kirk.

[And about fiteen minutes later he's there, dropping out of the sky.]

[ Okay, that's impressive. A bit flashy, granted, but who's Jim to ever criticize that.

Thor's kind of obvious, so he makes his way over to him promptly, before he even needs to ask around about Jim's whereabouts. ]

Thor, I presume? [ He offers his hand. ] I'm Jim Kirk.

[ofmyth]

Well met, Jim Kirk. [He takes the hand, unable to shake the vague feeling he's heard that name before. Hm.]

I meant to ask- have you been here long?

[winscenario]

[ A lot of people around here have, it seems. At least Thor's reaction isn't quite as... explosive. For lack of a better word. ]

A year and some. It's been a while for me, yes.
