So I'm new here and I figured this might be the best place to ask around for suggestions. What are some of your favorite distractions here? Places, things to do... I'm open to anything.
[He just kind of needs any sort of distraction really bad at the moment. While there's work to do and getting to know his surroundings... he could use something more involved than any of that, something that ca help him stop thinking for five minutes. Keeping busy seems like the best use of his time than any of the other options... which basically consists of moping by himself somewhere. Not all that productive.]
[FILTERED FROM: @WICCAN]
And just one more thing. Has anyone arrived here later than other people they knew back home? Friends, significant others, family... Not in the 'I came here from the future' sense, but in the 'I arrived late to the city and they seem to have made a new life without me' one. Was it hard to find your place with them again or did you even try? I know it's natural that people would change over time, that maybe they'd have a life that doesn't even include you, but... I have no idea how to deal with it. It feels kind of like a bad dream I'm managing to make worse.

[ He kids, he kids! It's clear from his tone of voice he's joking.
(Mostly.) ]
But man... That sounds like a raw deal. My advice is-- well. It depends on who this person was to you, you know?
no subject
[... He is totally hoping that is and taking that as a joke though.]
Boyfriend... guy I thought I was going to marry one day.
no subject
[ A beat. ]
Ohhh... ouch. [ There's a rare moment of genuine sympathy. That really blows, man! Unfortunately, Chase is Chase, so he's a font of bad advice: ] You should try to win him back. Make him jealous with another guy! It's win-win: either it works, and he comes crawling back, or it doesn't work, but you got to make out with a hot guy for a good cause.
no subject
[Teddy will absolutely take all the advice though. Even the bad kind.]
He's apparently in a serious relationship... I'm not even sure if he'd get jealous. [That, and you know, playing with some guy's feelings would be bad, right?]
But maybe getting out more couldn't hurt. Or finding someone to make out with again one day.

The kind of awkward you kind of brought on yourself though, not the kind you accidentally bump into.

[Picked up girlfriends is what she doesn't say directly. That sounds... wrong, like she's jealous. Which she isn't, but it's still people who are important in her teammates' lives, when she was used to them all being in a circle together.]
I can't give you any words of wisdom, though, cause I'm still figuring it out.
filter; voice;
[He hopes she's not having to do it alone at least. Just generally being alone is not a fun experience, he's always thought.]
Hey, maybe we can figure it out together, right? If I learn any tips that work, I can let you know and vice versa.

From the sound of things, they're not exactly chomping at the bit to get any of us home, so eventually we'll be the ones settled in, too.
[She doesn't exactly sound pleased about it, but at least newbie-hood is something that wears off.]

[ At least for him, who has been swinging a makeshift bat for hours upon hours after discovering that two of his three brothers here now have a significant other and he's now falling behind big time. Definitely not going to touch that other question. ]
voice;
[And hey, he'll take answers to any of the questions, honestly.]
Were you big on it back home too?
no subject
[ He doesn't even know anything about baseball rules but still Big Love for it. ]
I can do 100 swings in one minute!

[She pauses thoughtfully.]
I might be making that up.

Bowling does sound fun though. It's been a while.

[A pause.] I can't offer you much advice, though. I only had someone from home here once, and she-... she left again, after a couple of weeks. Back home, my mom turned back up after we thought she was dead for twenty years, though? I hadn't gotten the chance to spend much time with her, but- I guess you just kind of have to. To learn how you fit into each other's lives now?
voice,
Ouch. I'm sorry... for both things. [Having someone go home on you or missing out on a chance to be with your mom? That has to be... hard, honestly.] Yeah, I guess so. It's just... hard, I guess. At least in my case. We keep fighting, but hopefully we can figure out something.
no subject
It is hard. [He can agree with that sentiment.] I'd, uh, ask what you keep fighting about, but that seems really personal. Hopefully things will work out, in time. Sometimes that's the only real answer, giving it time.

There's lots of clubs here, you could always go out dancing with me.
[As long as you don't wanna Talk.]

Unless you give him a lot to drink. No promises then.]
You know what? You're on. That sounds fun. But if you speed off and leave me five minutes after we get to where we're going...

The only advice I can give is to try not to force things. That might mean putting some distance between you and them for a bit depending on what your relationship was like before. I know it might be tough, but you could push them out of your life completely if you don't take a step back.
[ That is what happened with him and Linda. Coming on too strong and the expectations were simply too much for her to deal with. ]
But I think you ultimately have to decide how important they are to you and if you can accept that your relationship might not be the same as it once was. Just because things are different doesn't mean you can't find a way to make it work. At least that's what I keep telling myself.
voice
[And he knows he's probably very right in this regard. It's hard to not want to come on strong, to fight for what they had before back, but it'll just end up hurting everyone involved, right?]
Are you making it work? It sounds like you're maybe talking from experience...
private
You could say that. It's something I was actually dealing with back home. So it's not exactly the same, but I think there are definitely some similar aspects to it.
[ Explaining how it's similar would mean explaining the entire story and that's not really something he is interested in doing at the moment. ]
As for making it work, we did for a while. I mean, we were able to be something like friends again. But she knew I wanted something more and I think I put too much pressure on her even if I didn't mean to do it. That's where the whole giving each other space part comes in.
