[ Well, here we have a username that hasn't been seen on the network in a while. The video itself is, alas, distorted at the moment. It seems the device itself is being moved rather quickly from hand to hand. ]

-- bloody well doing alright by myself.

[ And then there's Peggy Carter and a native nurse who has apparently made the mistake of trying to open and hold the device for her. It's enough to get her chased out as the woman struggles to sit up. On her way out, the nurse does take a few bloodied bandages with her. ]

Well, turns out one can get promoted in their absence.

[ She holds up a file of pages, apparently her new job description. ]

Is it too much to hope that my house is still intact?

[There's a voice and a face he hadn't allowed himself believe he'd see again. But his relief and happiness is quickly distracted by the sight of the bloody bandages. Despite her calmness he can't disguise the concern in his voice or face.]

Peggy? Are you alright?

[ She shifts with a slight wince but the next moment she offers him a small smile and a little salute. ]

At your command, sir.

[So very dry, though he hasn't missed that flinch.]

[A slight pause.]

[ So! it has been a rather terrible day. Whitney Frost has gotten away and peggy's plan has gone awry, to say the very least. A fall, a rebar, blood and now this.

Not a very impressive return and yet. ]

Well, don't take him too seriously.

[ she warns with a wave of a finger. ]

It'll go to the man's head and we can't have that. Mr. Stark, indeed.

[ but she complains with a smile and a moment later - ]

[ Her whole body hurts, spine and hip and neck but she sits a little straighter, anyway, pushing her body up, pressing her elbows to the mattress just so she can look at him. hell, she knew but seeing him catches her unprepared, still. All her plans have gone so terribly wrong as of late. I he had been there, what would he say? so much of what she had tried to do was inspired by him and yet here she is with nothing but a painful failure to show for. ]

[He practically hangs on that guy's every word, so. Pray for him.

At the question, he seems hesitant — mostly because he already sounded kind of lame earlier. He rubs his hands on his jeans, looking every bit like a new guy with absolutely no experience in a job interview.]

But also just stories that got passed around. My Uncle Ben used to listen to the Captain America radio stuff with his dad, so I was always really interested in it... Not so much in the radio stuff, cus' it's kind of... goofy, but the old stories.

[He's recognized that as much. Not that he uses those sorts of titles so much as he does for other people.]

Yes, I have. It's called not being in charge. I find that I have more freedom, less headaches and less paperwork by not being the person that others report to.

Beginning of June, right around Prijata. I'll give him credit, he didn't actually complain when I dragged him to the hospital.

[Which probably says something to how serious the injury was, too.]

He's doing better now. I mean, there was the whole mess with the psycho cultists kidnapping people, and they took Steve, so of course he dragged his ass out there half-healed. [And, to be fair, Sam had been the one to bring him the news, because he'd known damn well Tony wouldn't stay in bed.]

I've...[There's a hollow look to his eyes that speak to a few too many nights without sleep.] I'm fine. More or less.

[His brows raise slightly when she addresses him by rank, but he doesn't question it, still far more focused on her state. He can tell that more may be wrong then what appears obvious in the way she moves. Pain makes movement slower, stilted.]

Oh no, not that rubbish again.

[ The amount of long-suffering is beyond description. Indeed, it seems like this one piece of knowledge manages to hurt as much as her current physical condition. ]

[ The one before the last, naturally. She had worked that festival, among others. It was one of the more memorable ones. ]

Is that how it goes? I leave for a couple of months and the lot of you get into a heap of trouble?

[ and she courts her own heap of problems but those are less urgent at the moment. ]

Not too long ago. The day before yesterday, I trust.

[ it's been one thing after the other, as of late. ]

Fretting doesn't become you. They'll force actual food on me at some point, I trust.

One learns something new every day, especially here.

[ her laughter gets mixed with a cough and a wince. they managed to make sure the pain doesn't make her pass out anymore but it'll bother her for days and days to come.

Still, there's work to get done; she can't do that without a clear head. ]

I fear that where I come from, those who are in charge ever touch paperwork. No, they assign that to the lower ranks, as well as bringing their lunch and pouring their coffee.

[ one can say once a spy is uncovered, they are far less dangerous than before. Peggy has made the same mistake not too long ago with one Dottie Underwood. She shifts, tries to find any position that might not be so uncomfortable. ]

I would like the list of those you do know. One can never tell who gets trapped here.

[ a pause, she smiles. How quick she is to try and return to what she knows to do, when really - ]

I realize I never asked for your name. It seems like I don't need to introduce myself.

Peggy Carter.

[ god, it's such a relief not to be recognized, known, acknowledged. With some people, she almost feels like she's an open book. It's easier with strangers. She's come to hope that her name might mean nothing. It'll be a welcome change. ]

That's quite a lot of time, miss Reagan. How have you been spending it?

[mannerism]

They seem to think I'm worse than I actually am. I'm hurt, I'm hard an invalid.

[ though the fact that she stays put, that she doesn't seek to discharge herself, is telling. She would if she could, if she's there, it's because standing is too difficult, not to mention walking.

To think that she'd have to introduce herself to people in this state. ]

But the point has been made, I trust.

[ the voice is young -- lord, are youngsters fretting over her now? Peggy clears her throat, chases away the exhaustion and the rawness from it. ]

Quite alright, simply in need of an evening of rest.

[ Your she says. Honestly, the very need of a name for a team is odd and she is entirely sure it wasn't Steve's idea but Tony's. and yet, she places the blame on him, the only one who might recognize the amusement in her tone. ]

[ an easy lie but then, she's rather not talk about the woman who pushed her down on the rebar, especially not to someone so young. ]
