[ Well, here we have a username that hasn't been seen on the network in a while. The video itself is, alas, distorted at the moment. It seems the device itself is being moved rather quickly from hand to hand. ]
-- bloody well doing alright by myself.
[ And then there's Peggy Carter and a native nurse who has apparently made the mistake of trying to open and hold the device for her. It's enough to get her chased out as the woman struggles to sit up. On her way out, the nurse does take a few bloodied bandages with her. ]
Well, turns out one can get promoted in their absence.
[ She holds up a file of pages, apparently her new job description. ]
Is it too much to hope that my house is still intact?

video; un: iron.man
...Peggy? You're back?
[And a brief pause as he gets a good look at her.]
Are you okay?
video;
[ her voice cracks, a combination of raw exhaustion and a tinge of emotion. Coming back has been a confusing swirl of frustration laced with a drop of hope that some of her old connections are still in the city.
But Tony has always been something beyond an ally, beyond even a friend.
One would expect a burst of sentimentality but. ]
Good God, man. You look dreadful.
[ Pot meet kettle. ]

Yeah, I'm not the one in the hospital.

He technically was coming in to get this little wrist cast removed; he's only worn it for, like, three days. But it was important to make sure the bones were all in the right place, or else he'd be the Amazing Picasso-Man instead.
His motions are so slow... so still... he has mastered the art of invisibility.
Or he's a sore thumb. Mostly a sore thumb.]

[ of course she sees him. even with the treatment they forced on her that has left her more than a little groggy, she sees him. she winches as she sits up, mutters an angry little bloody hell and takes a better look at him.
-- A child. She's rather certain they've never met and so. ]
Have you been sent here by someone named Stark?
[ Tony offered her company but being the little bugger that he is, she can absolutely see him excusing this as I've never said my company. ]
no subject
Okay, he's got a wrist cast on, he has no room to say jack shit.
But he heals! It's different!
He colors a little, stepping into the doorway.]
Um — no! No, no, I was just... thinking about saying hi, since I'm a fan of your work, but you look like you should be resting. I didn't mean to - to interrupt your healing business. That was pretty lame of me. Um. Ma'am.

[no he didn't he's just joking
also about an hour later - give a man time to cook, okay? - he shows up with a nicely arranged plate of caramel blondies]
Hey, you and Tony'll have matching scars.
[He pulls a chair up to Peggy's bed and sets the plate down on the table. The crack is more than it seems, an offering of information Tony might be reluctant to share on his own.
(Tony's going to kill him.)]

[ she accuses as he walks inside, though the nature of the words is more affectionate than it is scolding. She is leaned against a little hill of pillows, hands resting in her lap. ]
It's good to see you.
[ she looks at the plate, then at him. important matters first: ]
What has he done now?
no subject
[He is so offended, Peggy.]
And you mean it's great to see my baking again.
[There's a one-shouldered shrug, trying to keep it casual.]
Got a present from home. Seems like those canisters come with bad luck sometimes - in his case, getting stabbed in the stomach.
[Sam knows how and why, but that's a story he'll leave for Tony, at least.]

As if you'd be sitting still, agreeing to bed rest. I know you better than that, Captain.

I suppose that a promotion can be both an good thing and a bad, depending on what it is. When it comes with paperwork, it can come with a great deal of headaches as well.
[Guess who doesn't miss the millions of reports he had to shift through back home?]

[ Manners, first and foremost. Even without her armor of well-kept makeup, hair and wardrobe, Peg manages at least that. she is sitting in her bed, looking almost comfortable but mostly in pain. She tries for respectable, however. ]
I'm afraid I'm much used to those, I had them at my last job, too and at the one before that.

the video camera had been still a fairly new invention in the 1940s, but shield had always been ahead of its days. there were a few videos, not many, of the agency's founding female member. skye had watched those with rapt attention. the videos of howard and the rest? not so much.
thus, the smallest hesitation in between the beginning of her video feed and her first words, one that might even hint at a little bit of starstruck admiration. ) The P wouldn't happen to stand for Peggy, would it?
( 'ma'am' gets swallowed down, hard. same for 'agent'. )

Riverview, however, brought her work into light. Here, she had to adjust to the fact that people know her, they know what she does, they recognize her skill-set. An odd sensation, for a woman who was used to anonymity, it had its advantages as well as its drawbacks. She's quiet used to this by now, and at the least the woman doesn't confess herself to be a fan of her world. ]
That it does. I have a feeling this was not a lucky guess.
