Hi Riverview! My name's Gabby and I'm new here! I was in New York before. The one with the superheroes. And now I'm here! Unfortunately, I think I lost all my stuff? And my caseworker kind of freaked out when I gave her the list, so maybe you guys can help me!

I'm missing my MAC-10 machine pistols, nunchucks and knuckle busters. Anyone knows where to get those? Oh, and a proper bullet proof suit.

You're new to the Quarantine? When did you get here?

A few days ago. My case worker was getting me settled.

[ which was weird, but okay. no case worker would match laura's bizarre parenting style anyway. gabby points to her shirt with a grin. ]

I got this yesterday! Cool right?

[scholiast]

Welcome. How are you finding it so far?

(Pretty good, if the new t-shirt is any indication. Its garishness makes Lucretia chuckle.)

It's very cool. I didn't think it was possible to be all of those things at once.

It's pretty great. Not much different from home.

[ gabby's tolerance for weirdness is high. ]

Sure. It just takes a little imagination.

And home is... New York? Is that on Earth? (Not so wild a guess, she's come to learn.)

[ she nods. ]

That's the one. I live there with my sister. Who is kind of here but tiny and from a different reality.

[scholiast]

You... are remarkably fine with all of this.

Has this happened to you before?

[honeybadgerer]

My life's always been kind of weird.

[ from the very beginning. it takes a lot to freak gabby out. ]

[scholiast]

Fair enough. You did say that you're a superhero– what are your superpowers?

[honeybadgerer]

I've got a healing factor. And I can't feel pain.

[ granted the last one is less of a superpower and something that is killing her slowly, but details! ]

And I've got a claw in my hand.

[scholiast]

(okay this is a lot hold on)

Right, as you said before. How... do you have a claw in your hand?

(Maybe she means she has a claw instead of a hand?)

[honeybadgerer]

[ uhh how to explain this to other people ,,, ]

I'm a mutant. Kinda. Mutants are born with powers.

[scholiast]

Huh.

Are there many different ways to obtain 'superpowers' on your version of Earth? Or is it only mutants who can get them?

[honeybadgerer]

There are a lot of ways. Space rays, radiation, Terrigen mist. Cloning. It depends.

I'm a clone so that's how I got mine.

[scholiast]

(Lucretia takes a moment to furiously scribble all of this down before answering. She doesn't know what 'Terrigen' is, so that word is circled, but the rest makes sense within the context.)

You're– a clone... (she writes that down, still focused on her book, and then seems to realise what Gabby has just said.) Wait.

A clone of what?

A clone of another mutant. That's how I have powers.

[ sort of. gabby having them was unexpected. ]

[scholiast]

Sure, that makes sense.

(literally nothing makes sense)

Is... your clone here?

An alternate version of my original's here. She's younger than me though.

[ normally, gabby would say my sister, but she gets the feeling lucretia's a little overwhelmed. ]

[scholiast]

(Just a bit! Lucretia's trying to do a little family tree-esque diagram on the opposite page to the notes she's been taking, but it's getting confusing.)

Well, that's– good, that's good, that you have somebody here with you from home.

[honeybadgerer]

Yeah, I'm not worried.

[ though would she ever be worried??? what's worry???

she has some fears, but they tend to be muted since . . . she feels no pain. ]

I've noticed.

(She's smiling again though.)

Have you made any friends yet?

[honeybadgerer]

No . . . I don't think so.

[scholiast]

Well, there are a lot of children who live here too; I'm sure it won't take long to get to know them and make friends.

After all, you have cool superpowers.

[honeybadgerer]

[ gabby's not sold. not that she can't make friends, but it's not something she's ever had in abundance. her world is small and she knows how fragile it can be. she watched her family die in a cage after all. ]

I can make friends with adults too. I have adult friends.
