[When the feed flicks on, Thor's face engulfs it before he notes to move it back a little more. He's alright with technology, but not great.]

Hello. [He says, and he needs to pause because he feels like he's talking to himself.]

In amongst recent.. events, I thought it might be of some use to offer training in strength and combat. We are well protected, to be sure, but a new start in life can be enriched with new skills. If you are interested in learning, I can make myself available.

And on that note- [The camera shifts as he stands, and he swivels it to pan over a sad, indoor collection of potted plants. All in varying states of death. It's a horror movie for plant-based life forms.]

In the interest of learning new skills, I have begun to garden. I am aware it has not gone to plan. [He swivels the camera back to himself, unimpressed.]

I need a hardy plant, one that can withstand my novice abilities. I've no care for something pretty, I just want it to live. [The saddest request he's ever made, he's sure.]

If you have experience in this area, I'd be interested to know why my plants have made a murderer of me. I can provide coffee for your services.

[Thor raises a brow at her change in appearance, but she's not the only one who has gone through some changes this week.

He wonders if it's rude to ask.]

I have seen a cactus before, but I thought they only grew in the desert. [Hmm.] Perhaps they will make a good fit.

[He'll ponder on that for a while, but he goes on to answer her question.] Thousands of years of experience, fighting beast and man. I primarily fight with a hammer, but hand to hand and close combat are very familiar to me.

You thought wrong, mon loulou, they grow wherever they're placed and watered occasionally — provided the sunlight is good, of course.

But cacti aside, thousands of years is quite the resume. What does that make you, if I may ask?

I shall take note, and pursue them later. [He's not sure where he'll get a cactus, but he'll find out.]

Old. [He says curtly, but with humor.] Asgardian. My race is known for longevity, among other things.

Old is right; I was trying to be generous with my question. [ a pause, as she considers his username, then consults with fuzzy memories ... huh, it's coming back to her. ] Thor, wasn't it? Things make somewhat more sense, now.

Thor, it is. I take it the name is familiar beyond our first meeting. [Though he's not sure how well she remembers that.]

Is my wisdom enough to offer?

[ first meeting... so he's met whoever was here instead of her just the once, then. that's good. she's not sure how she feels about becoming reaqcuainted with a doppleganger's friends. ]

I've heard a few stories about a Thor. And you can call me Amélie — go ahead and forget whatever silly name I'd given you before.

Now, as to your wisdom... there are some people, I believe they could live as many thousands of years as they like, they will still never have all so much wisdom to offer. How can I say if you're one of them?

This Thor and that Thor have a few things in common. Makes for an interesting conversation with Vikings, of course. [Thor chuckles.] I don't think I shall soon forget it, but if you permit me to use your name then I will.

I suppose you cannot say until you put me to the test. Really though, anyone who knows me will say I never leap to the fight and absolutely do not try to solve problems by punching them.

[ And there's Vikings here? Honestly, will the absurdity never end? She shakes her head with a disbelieving huff. ]

I have met you but a moment, and still I have no doubt of this. [ pacifists don't immediately go and offer combat training, ok. ] Now I, I do not fight. I have left things like that to my husband. But seeing as I have done so, I do have an eye for what skill looks like in a duel. Perhaps I could watch one of yours.

[worldsaway]

[Thor makes about five expressions at once when she mentions husband. Surprise, skepticism, confusion, disappointment. It's a face journey.]

Why leave all the fun to your husband? [Thor raises a brow.] You are welcome to observe lessons, but I am afraid I've not had a serious battle since I arrived here. [It's probably for the best.]

Really, Thor, is that the excuse you will use — and so preemptively, even? It's so common. No one can be blamed for a poor performance if he "wasn't really trying".

[worldsaway]

It's not my performance I'm concerned about, it's your expectations.

[fearofspiders]

I will keep them low, just for you, monsieur.

[worldsaway]

And we shall rue the day you must raise them for me.

[fearofspiders]

Will we? Do I not look like a woman ready to be impressed? Hopes high and expectations low, it is the way I have learned to handle men.

And what does your husband make of this outlook? Or is he the exception to the rule?

[fearofspiders]

As a renowned military man, the rule is most strictly applied to him. Someone must keep his ego in check.

[worldsaway]

And how long have you kept him in check, if I may ask?

[fearofspiders]

Three years, so far. Three years I suppose on hold, but it is true we will return home eventually, no? I can wait.

[worldsaway]

I wish you luck, then. It is not easy to love from afar, from different worlds. [And he's both the authority and the failure on that front.]

[fearofspiders]

No? That sounds like experience talking.

[worldsaway]

It is. I do not mean to sound jaded, however. I'm sure most anyone could do better than I.

Possibly. If it is not too sad, and does not pain you too much, will you tell me about it?

If it interests you, I can. [He's not sure pain is the word he'd use now. It feels a little more hollow.]

This is not the first time I have been placed into a different world. The first time, I met a woman and fell for her. Instantly. [He adds, perhaps a little tersely.] Suffice to say, when I went back home, absence made the heart grow fonder. When I returned, we did not know how to make it work, then I was to leave again.

[He pauses, then adds.] It would have been better for the both of us, had I not pursued it.

Oh.

[ she looks immediately sympathetic, a hand going to her chest. ]

That is very sad, monsieur. You have my condolences — nothing disappoints the heart more than a passionate flame that burns out even itself. But can you really say you should not have lit this flame at all? You keep at least the memories of its warmth with you.

[worldsaway]

[Thor feels a little uncomfortable with the pity, but he doesn't let it reflect outwardly. It's a normal reaction.]

No, I suppose I don't regret what I had. Merely how long it was drawn out before it ended. [He shakes his head.]

No matter. It hardly resembles your experience. For all we know, your husband could be brought here at any time.
