Hello. [He says, and he needs to pause because he feels like he's talking to himself.]

In amongst recent.. events, I thought it might be of some use to offer training in strength and combat. We are well protected, to be sure, but a new start in life can be enriched with new skills. If you are interested in learning, I can make myself available.

And on that note- [The camera shifts as he stands, and he swivels it to pan over a sad, indoor collection of potted plants. All in varying states of death. It's a horror movie for plant-based life forms.]

In the interest of learning new skills, I have begun to garden. I am aware it has not gone to plan. [He swivels the camera back to himself, unimpressed.]

I need a hardy plant, one that can withstand my novice abilities. I've no care for something pretty, I just want it to live. [The saddest request he's ever made, he's sure.]

If you have experience in this area, I'd be interested to know why my plants have made a murderer of me. I can provide coffee for your services.

I have seen a cactus before, but I thought they only grew in the desert. [Hmm.] Perhaps they will make a good fit.

[He'll ponder on that for a while, but he goes on to answer her question.] Thousands of years of experience, fighting beast and man. I primarily fight with a hammer, but hand to hand and close combat are very familiar to me.

Would I tend to them as I tend to living plants? [Because it really looks like you've done a whole lot of tending there, Thor.]

I pursued gardening as a hobby because I was told it was soothing, yet I have not seen such desolation in my entire life. [When all else fails, turn to dramatics.] I had also heard there is satisfaction in a job well done, when something you've nurtured from a seed grows into something impressive.

Like a child.

[He pauses.] With less screaming.

Succulents would probably be your best bet, or maybe some sort of fern. [She smiles.] I'd be happy to help you get started, if you'd like.

I have heard tell of succulents in my magazines, but I do not possess a discerning eye when choosing plants to take to their grave. [Sometimes you have to laugh. Only he's not laughing.]

Anyone who feels the need to protect themselves ought to learn. I hold no disdain for this place, but there is much we cannot control and much we cannot predict.

We are well protected, of course. But there may come a time when it proves useful.

Tt. First, what kind of plants do you have?

( The view shifted, enough for Damian to lean forward wherever he's sitting to perch his elbow on the desk and tip his cheek against his hand. ) Different plants will require various degrees of care and commitment. You don't treat them all the same.

( One dark brow lifted as he gave the man a few seconds to process his words before continuing. )

Second, when do you train? ( He're more than capable of handling himself, but as long as he was here, he planned to make the most of whatever training resources he could. The more he learned, the more fierce an opponent he could become. )

I am aware that they are not all the same. This is why I sought flowers that can endure my care. [He shrugs.] They are flowers, I presumed they would require water and sunlight.

[But he's less interested in talking about his failures and more interested in talking about things he's good at. Like punching.]

I can make myself available at most hours, though I'm on call for Search and Rescue most evenings.

[ Ah, gardening. Yuuto is barely a novice himself, having only aided a friend with her own gardening on the school roof back home when she needed it. He's picked up very little, hardly enough assist someone who clearly needs it.

So he's no help there, but it's the first portion of his video that catches Yuuto's attention. ]

What types of combat do you know?

[ It isn't that Yuuto is completely useless fighting wise—he does have experience. But when he's trying to put on the image of a normal teenager, it may be suspicious that he knows how to take on something should the time ever arise (such as those huge... bird things that threatened the city weeks ago), and he can't switch to his phantom thief persona in front of someone. At least if he could say he got lessons from someone... not to mention, he isn't against seeing if he could pick up a new trick or two. ]

Hand to hand, primarily. I can also teach you to wield weapons, but admittedly Asgardian weapons differ greatly from the ones people from Earth may be accustomed to.

[Thor raises a brow.] Are you familiar with a particular type?

[He's fairly sure this is the wrong Thor, despite the name and similar appearance- having two arms gives that away quite quickly. But it's a link to his team, even a tenuous one, and considering his team is the closest thing he has left to friends, he'll take the chance on this Thor also being relatively friendly and hopefully as tough.]

I don't need to learn to fight, but it might be useful to practice with someone I don't need to hold back against.

I've done little in the way of growing flowers just yet and most of what I've found in gathering are unfamiliar to me. I could inquire at a shop that specializes in plants. I've been meaning to pay such a place a visit for some time now myself.
