Reading it, he mutters 'Loki of Asgard' and frowns, glancing around himself as though somebody else may spring up and claim the phone. When they don't, Loki runs an anxious hand through his hair and lets out a controlled sigh at length, standing awkwardly in his tee and jeans in the Floor Five lounge. ]

This phone I woke up with in my pocket is locked and it won't let me do more than make an emergency call. I know I'm on a moon for some reason, what the fuck, so if this is the local nine-one-one line I'd like some assistance, please.

[ 'Calm under strain' would be an apt description. ]

Such as, ah ... What's Asgard? And, how did I just freeze my bed solid? Because I totally did. [ In a panic when he woke up bewildered, oops. ] I — I'm not sure what to do.

[ Indeed. Sigh. Which is part of why Stephen has to wonder how true this is. But he'll try to give Loki the benefit of a doubt. For now. ]

You're a God from Asgard. If you were living in Manhattan before coming here, that's also true.

Freezing your bed sounds like you're losing control of your powers, however.

[ Oh. Oh. So that's how it's going to be. Stephen clears his throat and rolls his shoulders. He tries to keep his tone civil but the dry if sharp tone can't really be controlled. ]

I am Doctor Stephen Strange and if you can't even remember that you are from Asgard or that you have ice powers, then yes. You would forget you have a family and you have.

People don't forget their family.

[ That's one very strong belief he holds, aware of himself or not. ]

What are you a doctor of?

[ Stephen knows about belief but also knows about medicine and science. ]

People forget their family all the time. I have seen patients that have forgotten a whole generation of their own family so don't speak in absolutes with me about the mind.

I am a neurosurgeon, I would know a little more about it than you.

If I'm a god then I've probably made people or whatever, yeah? Who's to say I haven't literally built brains out of nothing?

[ Sticking out his chin, he refuses to treat this sham doctor with anything more than the pettiness he deserves. As small as Loki feels, he aims to build his own retreat into which to hide. ]

Maybe I'm a better neurosurgeon than you, I just can't remember it right now.

[ Stephen rolls his eyes and tries not to sigh as badly as he wants to. ]

I don't know if you have or not. I don't know the full scope of your powers but I do know that there is no shame in forgetting when it isn't your fault to begin with.

[ Just by looking at the Network throughout this conversation he's seeing more posts like this crop up. ]

It's starting to look more and more magically based than anything else.

[ His one cold comfort is that this isn't his fault, so his ire simmers instead of boils when he hears something like that. ]

How can you tell? I can't even do any magic.

[ The simmering is better and allows Stephen to soften his own delivery. ]

Because not all of us have been affected. And by the looks of it, it's random individuals. For now. I would have to see more examples to notice any pattern.

And what you did to your bed is, in fact, a form of magic. Just because you can't remember it now, that doesn't mean you don't possess it.

Magic can be for more than just that. And I never thought you used it for that reason, either.

I'm saying I could, not that I do. Obviously I don't, I wouldn't know how.

I didn't always know how to, either. I had to learn. You may have to re-learn.
