video » @LOKIOFASGARD
[ Two very green eyes (wide, without their usual cunning gleam) stare into the camera when the recording goes live, glancing up to the username that appears. Reading it, he mutters 'Loki of Asgard' and frowns, glancing around himself as though somebody else may spring up and claim the phone. When they don't, Loki runs an anxious hand through his hair and lets out a controlled sigh at length, standing awkwardly in his tee and jeans in the Floor Five lounge. ]
This phone I woke up with in my pocket is locked and it won't let me do more than make an emergency call. I know I'm on a moon for some reason, what the fuck, so if this is the local nine-one-one line I'd like some assistance, please.
[ 'Calm under strain' would be an apt description. ]
Such as, ah ... What's Asgard? And, how did I just freeze my bed solid? Because I totally did. [ In a panic when he woke up bewildered, oops. ] I — I'm not sure what to do.
( ooc: forward-dating this to tomorrow bc i work full-time and won't be around; loki is suffering a near-complete memory loss for the event. he doesn't remember who he is, his fam & friends, that he is magic as heck, how to use said magic, or his extensive horrid history. all he knows is that he agreed to come to a moon and once had an apartment in manhattan. )

[ And asking didn't come to mind often, when they hung out together. Jim can tell they get along but that's about it. ]
Here's a few other names. They all share the room with you, I think. [ He turns the phone so Loki can take a look at the small list of names on the screen. ]
no subject
And yet, you're the only one here. Or the first.
[ Loki is grateful for that and won't forget it, ironically. ]
no subject
[ On the off chance they won't, then Jim will just have to make up for that lack. ]
But I'm glad to be here for you, Loki. Anything you need, all you gotta do is ask.
no subject
Tell me more about yourself? You have me at a disadvantage.

Alright, so... I'm a Starfleet Captain. My ship's the USS Enterprise, and she's the flagship of the United Federation of Planets. It's 2263 where I come from, I'm originally from Iowa... I'm not sure what more you'd like to know.

[ That's the summary of what he gleaned, eyes widening because it's pretty cool to hear that. It's not a common thing, certainly.
Naivety colours Loki's tone with a wistfulness that isn't present when his memories are his own. ]
It must be wonderful, sailing through the stars. Do you have the best seat in the house as Captain? I imagine so.
no subject
[ Loki's naïve excitement is endearing, though, and Jim can't help a small smile. ]
Actually, yes, I do. Literally the best seat— the Captain's chair is facing the viewscreen squarely.
no subject
I think I'd like that seat best, too. To see the stars from, alone or not.
no subject
[ He studies Loki for a moment, then offers him a hand. ]
Come with me, then.
no subject
[ Hesitation only occurs for a moment as he reads Jim's blue eyes, then takes his hand as he decides there are likely worse people he could be trusting on a hunch. ]
no subject
But there are always stars in the sky, so. [ A shrug. ] We can go take a look. I know a nice spot.
no subject
He hasn't had much practice at lying since he woke up today. ]
Alright then, lead the way.
[ Loki will keep step like a well-behaved cat at Jim's side. ]
no subject
Great. Come on.
[ He tugs Loki along, opening the door and guiding him out to the hallway and towards the lift. His hold on Loki's hand is loose but he still doesn't let go, not unless Loki tries to pull from it. ]
no subject
You do this with many people? Since stars are your thing and all, being a fancy astronaut.
no subject
Just Bones, or on my own. You and me did this once before too, though we were outside the Quarantine. We went camping beyond the wall.
no subject
[ Jim's hand becomes Loki's anchor in the elevator where the blank walls allow his aching mind to roam for answers. He holds his forehead, frowning. ]
The moon we're on has a contained colony, with one great wall and another, farther out? [ Glancing to Jim for confirmation. ] You and I, we only went beyond the first.
no subject
That's right. We did, yes. [ He nods, smiling. ] You remember it?
no subject
[ He can see ghosts behind his eyelids if he strains, biting a lip. ]
There were more nights out there spent in the dark than by a fire. [ A hiss and he pinches the bridge of his nose, shaking his head. ] It's all reeds through muddy water.
no subject
[ The lift draws to a halt, and he steps out onto a completely deserted hallway. ]
We had a fire, though. Sang a couple songs, too. You fell asleep on me.
no subject
[ Shaking his head clear, his hand twitches in Jim's and Loki takes a look around the empty hallway. Better than mooning any further over the man next to him, which he has apparently done enough of. ]
How much further?
no subject
[ He winks, more amused than anything, then leads Loki down the hallway, opening up a door to some stairs. ]
Not much. Just a couple flights of stairs. [ He promptly guides Loki up said stairs, until they reach a smaller door. ] When I first found this place, no one was living on this floor, so it was always deserted. Not that I usually run into people when I come here, but still.
no subject
[ Two can play at teasing. ]
no subject
Yeah, something like it.
[ He steps outside onto a wide balcony looking over the Quarantine, no ceiling above them, the building itself extending for roughly the height of one other floor, though without any windows to be seen. The floor is cement, but there's a small patch of green grass, which is where Jim leads Loki to. ]
no subject
[ He heads over to the grass with Jim, crouching down to rub his fingers through it. The open balcony is lovely and he relishes the breeze on his face. ]
How come nobody else know about this?
no subject
I don't know. Someone else must, but I've never seen anyone come out here.
