How do you go about picking gifts?

[ He's just going to dive right in. No real introduction, but Steve figures that most people won't care too much about who is asking this or why. ]

I'm sure a lot of you are better at this than I am, so I guess I need some advice. How do you find a good gift for someone that already has far more than you've seen for half your lifetime? Not that I'm aiming to impress anyone, but it'd be nice to pull it off.

[ He grins a little. Okay, so maybe he's trying. Just a little. But Steve is rarely the one that surprises anyone else. He just wants a chance at doing something cool for a change. Of course, he's realistic and knows this is unlikely, but he can try. ]

I'm in a little over my head on this one. Everyone else always has the flashy stuff covered.

[ Loki huffs, even as he moves around to confidently seat himself on Steve's lap, making it infinitely more difficult for Steve to manage his network post. Because he knows Steve is teasing him and he has to prove a point about his assholery. ]

[ Steve raises an eyebrow as Loki plants himself on his lap, intentionally blocking Steve from continuing his conversations with everyone else. ]

[ Loki tilts his head up lazily. ]

Mm. You're a decent blanket. My legs won't get cold.

[ Steve lets the device hang, turning his attention completely to Loki. ]

Feeling jealous already?

[ Loki's gaze flicks to the device and back to Steve. ]

Should I be?

I thought you might be with my attention off of you for a whole two minutes.

[ He gives him a smirk. ]

No. You've got nothing to worry about.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki kisses the underside of Steve's chin. ]

Well, technically your attention is still on me since this post was about me.

[ He'd preen if he could. ]

[ Steve looks pleased with himself. ]

Huh, imagine that. Guess you're popular.

[ He blinks. ]

Steve, it has nothing to do with me. Just people who wish to chime in with their opinions.

You should give people more credit than that. Some of them answered with you specifically in mind.

[ It's an admonishment, but a gentle one. ]

For those that didn't, well, maybe they'd like getting to know you. You don't know until you try.

[ Loki makes a face. ]

I know enough people as it is.

[ That earns another laugh. ]

And you like them.

[ Loki pretends to give this thought. ]

Perhaps. There is one person in particular . . .

[ He sees that fake deliberation. It's charming, the way Loki humors his teasing and makes him feel comfortable. It's like being home. ]

Someone I know?

[ Loki taps his chin. ]

He might be?

Hm. I hope that's not an attempt to make me jealous. And after we were doing so well.

[ He pulls Loki in to kiss him lightly. ]

I'd have to fight for you. And that would get weird.

[ Loki sighs into it, pleased. ]

Why would it be weird? I need details if I'm supposed to prevent you fighting for my non-existent honour.

I don't particularly like the idea of fighting myself. But I will if I have to.

[ Steve cups his hand around the back of Loki's neck, stroking it lightly. ]

There's nothing wrong with your honor.

[dothelokimotion]

[ Loki snorts lightly at that even as he tucks himself closer to Steve's hand. ]

[ He hums, amused by the way Loki presses up against him. Whatever the god might say, he certainly appreciates Steve's compliments. ]

I would fight for it. You know that.

[dothelokimotion]

It would be a losing battle. And heroes don't lose.

I would make sure not to lose. And keep your honor intact.

[ It's a promise. After all, he still believes Loki has honor to save. ]

[ Loki shoots him a flat look. ]
