How do you go about picking gifts?
[ He's just going to dive right in. No real introduction, but Steve figures that most people won't care too much about who is asking this or why. ]
I'm sure a lot of you are better at this than I am, so I guess I need some advice. How do you find a good gift for someone that already has far more than you've seen for half your lifetime? Not that I'm aiming to impress anyone, but it'd be nice to pull it off.
[ He grins a little. Okay, so maybe he's trying. Just a little. But Steve is rarely the one that surprises anyone else. He just wants a chance at doing something cool for a change. Of course, he's realistic and knows this is unlikely, but he can try. ]
I'm in a little over my head on this one. Everyone else always has the flashy stuff covered.

Perhaps a nice dinner date, or a trip somewhere special...!
...
Or something handmade.
video;
[ He's smiling as he says that, though. It's a fond thought and one he's really considering. ]
Something handmade? I could try that. What would you make a god?
video; 1/2
Maybe something written, or drawn.
It's something a powerful being can't possibly replicate from nothing.
video;
Wait -- Are you sure they're a god?
How do you authenticate that sort of thing?

Now that I'm looking around, I guess I'm really not that good at this.

[ That answer might be teasing the person in question. But Steve more seriously considers the answer Alec gives him, because it does sound like Loki's past from what he can guess. The god does carry a grudge. He probably didn't get many genuinely nice gifts. ]
So I should try to pick out something special. Unique.
[ He is so not imaginative enough for this. ]
Could get a puppy.

[ If he could sputter over text, he would. ]
If he's disappointed, it'll be a failure.

[ action ]
Hmm. People certainly have interesting ideas of gift-giving.
[ action ]
[ Steve doesn't sound displeased at all by the comment. He's still very engaged in trying to puzzle out this gift giving problem he has and he's getting all the help he can from everyone. The fact Loki is criticizing before he's even gotten a chance to try anything is just typical Loki. He smirks as he keeps responding. ]
So does that mean you agree with them?

[ Why didn't he think of that?? ]
That would have been a good idea... I was just hoping to think of something impressive enough.

Something gaudy.

[...Is he being serious? Definitely not, but it does play nicely into the "violent Viking" stereotype.]

I... don't know his enemies personally. Unless I count myself, and I'm attached to my head.

However, if you want something generalized such as the process of how I choose my gifts, then I definitely examine the kind of person they are. No matter how long someone's lived, we're all from different worlds; there's no way they have experienced everything. Make it an opportunity for them.
text;
[ Now that is advice he can get behind. An experience is what he's been trying to figure out how to share for a while. He's still struggling, but the idea of making a gift out of it sounds great. Something positive and fulfilling is just what he thinks Loki needs for himself. ]
You sound like a good gift giver.

[Please tell him the neurotic one has received at least one present from Steve before.]

I really hope that's not how you approach your gift-giving. I'm trying to come up with something impressive and in my range here.
