[ the last time she graced the network with her presence, diana of themyscira explored the wonder of food emojis. now, however, she decides to take a more traditional approach — face-to-face, well, as much as she can over these devices. while she still prefers to meet in person, this will suffice for now. what can she say, she's old fashioned like that. ]
Thanksgiving.
[ she speaks the word softly, almost contemplative, though diana offers a bright smile into the camera. ]
Back home, we had many reasons to be thankful, and we did not limit the occasion to one day. Still, family and friends. [ her smile widens. ] That is something to celebrate.
What other — [ a careful pause, her nose wrinkling a bit. ] "holidays" are there?

[ A pause, ] I haven't decorated a tree in a very long time.
no subject
We should decorate one. Together.
no subject
[ Like he even needs time to think about that. ]
Actually, I'm looking for a new place to live. If you'd like, you can come over for Christmas. We can do other Christmas things, other than decorate the tree.
no subject
Like what?
no subject
Like cooking, and having lunch and dinner. There are a lot of Christmas sweets we could make too, and then drink hot chocolate and eat cookies while wrapped up in blankets. I think there are Christmas movies too, we could watch one if you want.
And then there's the exchange of presents, of course.

What do you want for Christmas, Steve?
[ she would offer a new weapon or shield, perhaps, but she knows better by now that those items are not on his list. ]

[ He sort of falters halfway through, because he answers before thinking about it, and he loses his wind (and his courage) before the whole syllable is out. Also, he's trying really hard not to blush over here, he's a grown man darn it. ]
I mean, uh... I don't... I just— Your company will be present enough. Whatever else you want to give me, I'm sure I'll love it.
no subject
I will have to think of something, then.
[ her smile widens, if it's even possible, at his response. ]
Have you found a new place yet?
no subject
[ He's not short on ideas; if anything he's sure he'll have a hard time choosing, once he starts looking around. ]
Not yet, I've just visited a few apartments. But I want something... special. Simple, but special. [ He shrugs. ] If you'd like, you could come along next time?
no subject
no subject
[ He hesitates before adding. ] I want it to be special to you, too. [ He's not asking her to move in with him, not really. But he would hope she would come over whenever she felt like it, stayed for as long as she liked. He'd like it if the place was as much a home to her as he hopes it will be to him. ]
no subject
although she has yet to experience what steve has, back home, the realization that they've grown this close causes her chest to ache. ]
It will be.
[ no matter where it is, because he'll be there. that's all that matters. ]
no subject
I'm glad to hear.
[ He knows what she means, he thinks. Or he hopes. ]
I'll let you know when I schedule some house visits.
no subject
Before Christmas arrives, you said. [ the edges of her lips lift again. ] When is it?
no subject
I'm almost sure it's not celebrated here, but I'm sure there's no harm in doing it anyway.
no subject
So the celebration lasts two days.
no subject
no subject
Would you prefer that?
no subject
[ And all of his days, forever. But he's reached his sappy quota for the day so he'll keep that to himself. ]
no subject
[ and stop presuming that she doesn't feel the same way, mister. ]
no subject
no subject
[ to soften the reprimand, she smiles gently — almost playfully. ]
no subject
I guess I just... I wanted you to know we could celebrate however we wanted to, that we didn't have to follow some sort of... rule. [ He smiles a bit sheepishly, shrugging. ] It was silly of me. I didn't mean to assume.
no subject
I assumed as well. [ which was an error on her part. ] I suppose I'm still not used to you like this.
[ it's required a bit of an adjustment, to reconcile what she knows of him now with her memory of him in the past. ]
