( The image that comes onto the screen is of a pristinely clean kitchen, obviously unused. It pans around for a minute, and then Dany appears, clothes and hair immaculate as those who've since met her may be accustomed to seeing by now. The expression on her face is cool out of habit, though her head is tilted, indicating that she's open to conversing, and curious. )
Prior to my arrival here, I cannot say there has been a single occasion upon which I've had to prepare or cook my own food. Not even when we crossed a desert.
( And then her expression twists, pinching into something remotely sheepish and rueful. )
Would that it were otherwise. I'm no great talent with this oven or stove; nor even with wood and flame. But I would know what sort of dishes you favoured back home, and if you might share toe recipes for them, if you know them.
—other than honeyed locusts, anyway. ( If they're to someone else's taste, fine; but yuck. ) I intend to learn.

That would be a mixture of meat and vegetables, yes?

[Give him a second to send over some files. Hopefully she can figure that out.]
Sometimes just vegetables, but I prefer it with meat. We have some actual recipe books lying around I could dig up if you want a bit of variety, though.

( She really appreciates that. )
I would prefer it with meat as well. Do you know how to make anything with seafood? Yes, I would; I'm most accustomed to a variety of food being served, personally. We've been consuming far too much chicken of late for my taste.

You can call me Ed if that's all right.
[There's a moment of hesitation at the mention of seafood, glancing off screen briefly before responding.]
Not really, I know how to cook fish all right but I didn't exactly have much of a kitchen back then, no electricity, it was more open flame- kind of like roasting marshmallows? There isn't really a recipe for that, though I guess you could add a little seasoning.
[He has no idea what her scope of reference is, but roasting marshmallows is a big thing this month, right? Surely she's heard of it, at least here. He's also not going to assume she knows anything about cooking over an open fire, thus the attempted explanation regarding how that worked.]
The books might have something, though... if you're feeling adventurous.

At least in Westeros. I suppose I'm still figuring that out too.
( She notices that pause, but says nothing of it, expression remaining cool and calm. )
I've heard of it a little. Holding something on a spit over an open flame, if I recall correctly.
( That last comment has her making a soft laugh, a little smile forming on her face. )
I am, at that.

[Ed repeats that carefully, unsure he's ever had to deal with a similar situation in the past. Just casually talking about stew and now he feels a little awkward, so...]
Does that mean you're royalty or something?
[He's not really in the mind to be offending royalty or whatever, and although he sort of tries to be aware that different worlds have different customs with everyone, this definitely felt like a whole new dynamic to adjust to. At least she seems to be good natured about it all.]
Sounds... like a lot to figure out, this place must be pretty different from your home world.
[Back onto the subject of food, though. He nods when she confirms that she understands how that works.]
Honestly, that's probably one of the easiest ways to cook. It doesn't offer the same for variety, but you skip all the kitchen and new technology until you can take some time to learn it. It's been awhile since I've done anything like that, with the cabins set up for the holiday it might be fun. I could show you, if you're interested... I think these cabins are set up all month, they have a fire outside that'd work.
[When she says she's feeling adventurous he can't help the grin.]
Just let me know where to drop off the books, I can bring a few over when we're both free.
[Letting a complete stranger borrow them doesn't bother him in the least since he doesn't mind if she winds up keeping them, as far as he's concerned there are plenty of ways to find recipes around this place, might as well share them with others.]

( Here, well; she's not sure what she is. Her skillset is best when applied to leadership. What she can grasp and understand — and agree with is that she has a lot to learn. To Ed's assertion on the matter, Dany merely nods her head. It says as more perhaps than words might convey. )
That may be, but I believe I'm able to retain any lesson I might receive in cooking with either an oven or stove.
( Though she does lighten her features in response to his smile. )
Tomorrow afternoon, perhaps? Or anytime thereafter.

[He might sound a little in awe at that notion, that's a lot of kingdoms.]
Of course- I could try to help with pretty much anything else, I just don't have much of a taste for seafood anymore.
[It's not as though he meant to imply otherwise about her ability to learn.]
and tomorrow afternoon works. I'll see you then.
