( The image that comes onto the screen is of a pristinely clean kitchen, obviously unused. It pans around for a minute, and then Dany appears, clothes and hair immaculate as those who've since met her may be accustomed to seeing by now. The expression on her face is cool out of habit, though her head is tilted, indicating that she's open to conversing, and curious. )

Prior to my arrival here, I cannot say there has been a single occasion upon which I've had to prepare or cook my own food. Not even when we crossed a desert.

( And then her expression twists, pinching into something remotely sheepish and rueful. )

Would that it were otherwise. I'm no great talent with this oven or stove; nor even with wood and flame. But I would know what sort of dishes you favoured back home, and if you might share toe recipes for them, if you know them.

—other than honeyed locusts, anyway. ( If they're to someone else's taste, fine; but yuck. ) I intend to learn.

I favored pizza. [ Well... modern American teenager. OF COURSE THAT'S HIS ANSWER. ] But I don't have any recipes. Just flatten some dough and throw cheese and tomato sauce on top, then stick it in an oven. BAM! You've got a pizza.

Pretty much everyone I live with really likes stew.

I could send you a few recipes, it's really easy to make.

If you've never had a cheeseburger and fries, we'll have to fix that right away. Can't go wrong with a good burger.

I've recently heard that scrambled eggs seem to be a really good place to start the 'learning to cook' process. [Izzy can't quite hold back the amused smile at her own words as the image of her failure named pudding comes to mind. Izzy knows the feeling of not really having the talent to cook...despite her multiple attempts to learn how to do so.] I haven't quite mastered it just yet, but my newest approach started there...after a pudding incident.

That would involve knowing how to make dough, which I do not.

Sometimes just vegetables, but I prefer it with meat. We have some actual recipe books lying around I could dig up if you want a bit of variety, though.

Earth has a lot of really great recipes to cook. But it would be a good idea to start with simple things first if you're not used to cooking. What sort of food are you used to eating back home?

And tomato. It's the red fruit that was on the cheeseburger we had at the feast. Find out if he knows how to make the sauce.

What manner of sauce would one make with a fruit — some manner of preserve or jelly?

I have in fact tried a cheeseburger; it was strange, but tasted very good.

A variety, preferably. I grew up with rice, roasted lamb, yogurt sauce; but my king did not. The fare of his people is heartier, and heavier.

In theory, I do. I haven't attempted cooking with it yet.

( That's the obvious assumption to make; and also the correct one. )

Who are you? 'None' isn't at all helpful.

Cook made jam at Winterfell, but there are other sorts of things. The red sauce we put on the potatoes at the place with the berry cakes: that's a tomato sauce. It says so.

What happened with your pudding?

I think your advice seems sound, lady. I'll attempt it, if you know the directions. It galls me to spend all my coin on food prepared by others.

I couldn't tell you. They were poisoned. ( Which means that someone else ate them. ) But they crunched unpleasantly when another ate them.

Was it? It was a necessity at the time; we were starving and water was scarce.

Rice, lamb, pork; seafood, especially shrimp. Honeyed duck, blackberries in cream. Honeyed wine.

Those were the nicer things. the rest, I've since learned aren't wise to mention.

It did say that, you're right. That should be easy enough to find at the market. Until he sends me a recipe, though, I don't know what else I'll need.

I would prefer it with meat as well. Do you know how to make anything with seafood? Yes, I would; I'm most accustomed to a variety of food being served, personally. We've been consuming far too much chicken of late for my taste.

I imagine they killed unpleasantly too. {Shame. A crunchy, honey-flavored treat doesn't sound too bad (if one ignores the locust part).} I kept a few trustworthy chefs in my house for that reason.

Necessity is the mother of invention. Of all the climates, I'd say a desert is one of the harshest. You are resilient, my lady.

[She keeps calling him something that sounds like 'Sir' so he's just going to casually shrug with the delivery of his next line. This has already come up a few times before and he hated insulting people, but at the same time-]

Not really, I know how to cook fish all right but I didn't exactly have much of a kitchen back then, no electricity, it was more open flame- kind of like roasting marshmallows? There isn't really a recipe for that, though I guess you could add a little seasoning.

[He has no idea what her scope of reference is, but roasting marshmallows is a big thing this month, right? Surely she's heard of it, at least here. He's also not going to assume she knows anything about cooking over an open fire, thus the attempted explanation regarding how that worked.]

The books might have something, though... if you're feeling adventurous.

Those who serve the Phantomhives are assessed thoroughly before given the position. I had servants that had been with the household since before I was born. Their loyalties lied with us, through thick and thin. {He sighs.} I believe all but one of them perished with me, unfortunately.
