[ It starts with a blank screen and cheerful booping that anyone who has met BB-8 will recognize, with muffled conversation in the background.

BB-8 is working on something. The screen flickers from blackness to brief color, goes dark again, then abruptly displays the following image: ]



[ Yes, it is Poe Dameron, standing nobly above a motif of X-wings, over the word "RESISTANCE" and below the words "WATCHING OVER THE SKIES AND STARS."

The background conversation stops. Poe's voice comes through clearly: ] Bee, what are you--BB-8, take that down right now.

[ Annnnnd the image vanishes. ]

[ A pause while Poe gathers himself and DOESN'T yell something along the lines of HE'S NOT A ROBOT HE'S MY ROUND SON. ]

He's a droid. He's lightyears beyond anything a robot could even HOPE to be.

[Boy, he's really jumpy about that]

Most people doing know the difference and that's the closest reference they have.

So he makes repairs?

Yeah, I know. Believe me, I've figured that one out.

He does a lot more than just repairs. He helps with lightspeed calculations, area scans, targeting and general flight systems.
He keeps me flying straight.

Aside from the lightspeed calculations, BB-8 sounds like he does everything my Haro does.

Haro?

Like your BB-8, Haro would best be described by someone who doesn't know as a robot. My current suit uses two Haros to help with evasion and targeting.

Is Haro here? Or... are they?

I wish. Haven't seen anything of him since I've been here.

[Little does he know it may be soon his haro will show up at his door]

Did BB-8 arrive with you?

not quite. we got here separately, but at around the same time.

Its good you weren't with him for long.

I'd be interested in seeing what BB-8 looks like.
